BURTON ‘DEVASTATED’ BY HALT IN FILMING

Quirky movie maker TIM BURTON was devastated when filming for RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT ground to a halt earlier this year (06), but he refuses to blame star JIM CARREY. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS director Burton had been working on the film for almost a year when production was cancelled, reportedly because Carrey demanded script changes that would have sent the movie’s budget rocketing out of control. But Burton refuses to criticise Carrey, insisting, "I like Jim (Carrey) very much, I think he’s really talented and stuff. I just…You know, when you work something for almost a year and that happens, it gets, it’s pretty devastating.
"So, I’m taking a step back from it for a minute."
