MAINES REGRETS BUSH APOLOGY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:21 am

DIXIE CHICKS star NATALIE MAINES regrets the public apology she made after blasting US President GEORGE W BUSH onstage in London - because he has never earned her respect.
The singer became the target of death threats and her group was banned from radio stations after she spoke of her shame that she was a Texan, like Bush, back in 2003.
As the US backlash against her swelled, Maines released an apology to Bush, admitting her remarks were "disrespectful".
She added, "I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect." But three years after the controversy, Maines admits she wouldn’t say the same thing today.
She explains, "I did feel that the office of the president should be shown respect but I have to say sometimes you have to earn people’s respect and I have none." Maines jokes she should have claimed she was intoxicated when she made her comments: "I wasn’t about to say, ‘Oh sorry, I didn’t mean it, I was drunk, let’s go to rehab…’ Sales probably would have been huge."
