PRINCE CHARLES BACKED BY CHANCELLOR IN TAX ROW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:15 am

British royal PRINCE CHARLES has been defended by British government chancellor GORDON BROWN over claims he should be forced to pay corporation and capital gains tax on his Duchy of Cornwall estate.
The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate which funds the public, charitable and private activities of Charles and his family.
Last year (06), Charles paid £3.3 million ($5.9 million) in tax for the Duchy Of Cornwall estate.
Some Members of Parliament (MPs) have recently called for an investigation into tax avoidance worth millions of pounds.
However, a spokesman for Brown says, "The prince has given the committee his full co-operation.
"The position he has set out on his tax liabilities is right both in law and in principle, and he does not deserve to be the target of these shoddy and underhand tactics."
