DAME HELEN MIRREN admits she is insecure when facing other celebrities and uses ’stripper shoes’ to ensure she is not overshadowed when she attends premieres.
The actress, 61, who is tipped to win her first Oscar for her performance in THE QUEEN, praised the unique footwear as the secret weapon in her bid to get noticed when she mixes with Hollywood royalty.
She says, "I’ve got NICOLE KIDMAN on one side of me, who’s six foot one inch (1.85 metres) and beautiful, and I feel like this little squat person.
"They call them pole dancer shoes. They’re very cheap. You’ve instantly got eight inches (20.3 centimetres) on your legs."
