JIMMY WEBB HONOURED IN NASHVILLE

Songwriter JIMMY WEBB was honoured by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in Nashville, Tennessee last night (23OCT06) and thrilled famous fans with a medley of his country hits.
The three-time Grammy Award winner was handed ASCAP’s Voice of Music accolade at the 44th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards gala as fans like JON BON JOVI, KENNY CHESNEY and BRAD PAISLEY paid tribute to Webb’s songs.
Webb took the stage to perform three of his biggest hits - WICHITA LINEMAN, BY THE TIME I GET TO PHOENIX and GALVESTON.
The tribute also included a guest appearance by Webb’s close friend and collaborator GLEN CAMPBELL.
Previous recipients of the Voice of Music honour include GARTH BROOKS and songwriter DIANE WARREN.
In other ASCAP awards, BRETT JAMES and RIVERS RUTHERFORD shared Songwriter of the Year honours and JOHN RICH was named Songwriter/Artist of the Year.
AMERICAN IDOL winner CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL was named Country Song of the Year.
