BUSTA RHYMES AVOIDS WEAPON CHARGES
LATEST: Rapper BUSTA RHYMES will not face trial on charges of possession of a weapon, a New York City court judge has ruled.
The hip-hop star, real name TREVOR SMITH, was arrested on 12 August (06) for allegedly assaulting teenage fan ROBERT LEBRON following the AmsterJam Music Festival on Randall’s Island.
Smith was charged with misdemeanour third-degree assault and harassment and weapon possession after cops allegedly found a 10 inch (25.4 centimetre) knife in his sports utility vehicle (SUV).
At a brief hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court today (24OCT06), Judge SHAWNDYA SIMPSON rejected the weapons charges, but the rapper will still go to trial for assault and harassment charges.
The GIMME SOME MORE hitmaker, 34, is scheduled to return to court on 11 December (06).
