TEN CANOES WINS FLANDERS GRAND PRIZE

Acclaimed Aborigine-language movie TEN CANOES was the toast of the Flanders Film Festival in Europe at the weekend (21OCT06), claiming the event’s top honour.
The film, the first Australian movie released in the Aboriginal tongue, won the Grand Prize at the festival and $25,000 (£13,890) to promote the film in Belgium.
Ten Canoes, directed by PETER DJIGIRR and ROLF DE HEER, also claimed the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in France earlier this year (06).
