DIDDY’S STARRING ROLE IN NEW MOVIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 pm

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has reportedly been cast in the lead role in a new film version of A RAISIN IN THE SUN, despite his poor reviews in the Broadway production.
The hip-hop mogul will reprise the role played by screen legend SIDNEY POITIER in a new adaptation of the 1961 film, which was later made into a hit stage show, according to British newspaper Daily Telegraph.
Critics panned Combs’ performance as WALTER LEE YOUNGER in his stage performance, saying the star was "simply not up to the role’s considerable demands".

MILLS’ BOOK CONTRADICTS DIVORCE CLAIMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 pm

A book written by SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s estranged wife HEATHER MILLS may contradict the allegations made against the former BEATLE in her divorce papers.
In legal papers leaked to the British press last week (ends20OCT06), Mills claims the former BEATLE kept her as a ‘prisoner’ in the bedroom in the morning, as she was not allowed to get out of bed early - but passages from her lifestyle book, LIFE BALANCE, are at odds with lawyers’ current allegations.
The papers prepared by Mills’ lawyers say, "The petitioner (McCartney) refused to allow the respondent (Mills) to get out of bed early in the morning even though she would wake up early and wish to use the time for essential physiotherapy for her leg and to attend to emails and administrative tasks before the staff arrived or their child woke up.
However, details in Mills’ book published earlier this year (MAY06) contradict the alleged ‘domestic horrors’ of life with McCartney. She says, "As a working wife and mother, I have learnt that setting the alarm 30 minutes earlier each morning can make all the difference. It allows me a bit of personal space before the day begins."

McCARTNEY DIVORCE LEADS TO BIRTHDAY CANCELLATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 pm

The bitter divorce battle between SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and HEATHER MILLS has reportedly led to the cancellation of their daughter’s third birthday party.
McCartney and Mills were expected to throw a lavish party for BEATRICE, but their feuding ways have led to the celebration being scrapped, according to British newspaper The Daily Star. The paper claims the estranged couple can no longer stand to be in the same room.
The cancelled party, which was expected to take place next Saturday (28OCT06), has left the warring couple fighting over who will spend the day with Beatrice on her birthday. Heather reportedly had planned a lavish do, while Paul wanted a more intimate family affair at his English country estate in Peasmarsh, East Sussex.

SUICIDE FILM SCREENED AT LONDON FESTIVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:15 pm

A controversial movie showing real-life suicides is to be screened at a London film festival, despite being met with disapproval across the world.
THE BRIDGE, which shows six people jumping from San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Bridge, will be shown at the London Film Festival on Monday (23OCT06). The Bridge was earlier rejected by film festivals at Cannes and Berlin, with one organiser describing it as "voyeuristic, nothing more".
Director ERIC STEEL believes the movie forces the audience to rethink their position on mental illness and suicide, and allows them to "bear witness to something profoundly disturbing".
The movie has also attracted heavy criticism from suicide experts, who believe it could lead to an increase in similar behaviour as shown on-screen.
Professor KEITH HAWTON of the Centre for Suicide Research at Oxford University in the UK says, "All research suggests that showing, in detail, methods of suicide does result in an increase of those methods immediately afterwards, so portrayal of methods of suicide is ill-advised."

‘DOG’ CHAPMAN’S MEXICAN CASE ON HOLD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 pm

LATEST: Reality TV star DUANE ‘DOG’ CHAPMAN’s is delighted Mexican authorities are starting to listen to his side of the story, following his arrest last month (14SEP06) for illegal bounty hunting.
The Hawaii-based star of DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER, his son LELAND and another associate were arrested in Mexico last month on a warrant following Chapman’s capture of convicted rapist ANDREW LUSTER in June 2003 in Mexico, who had skipped bail in the United States.
However, bounty hunting is a crime in Mexico and Chapman has been accused of conspiracy and the illegal detention of Max Factor heir Luster, who is currently serving a 124-year prison term in the US.
At a press conference yesterday (20OCT06), Chapman said, "The tide is changing a little bit… If it comes out right, would I do it again? You damn right." Chapman said his lawyer WILLIAM BOLLER has spent the past month in Mexico and has managed to persuaded the Mexican federal court to grant an order to halt the case against Chapman until further evidence is found.
Reflecting on the night he spent in a Mexican jail following his arrest, the 53-year-old hardman said, "Jails are truly man-made hells. I’m too old to be traumatised, but it’s right next to that. It’s just incredible."

‘ILLEGITIMATE SON’ OF PRINCESS MARGARET GOES TO COURT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:12 pm

A man claiming to be the illegitimate son of PRINCESS MARGARET is taking the British Royal Family to court over his belief he is 12th in line to the throne.
ROBERT BROWN, 51, believes he is the son of QUEEN ELIZABETH II’s sister Margaret, who died in 2002 aged 71. He plans to use the Human Rights Act to challenge the rules surrounding the princess’ will. Under law, ’sealed’ wills like that of Princess Margaret are forbidden to be publicly inspected.
Brown was born on 5 January 1955 in Nairobi, Kenya, although his birth certificate shows the much later date of 4 June 1955. His birth mother is listed as CYNTHIA JOAN BROWN.
He says, "All I can say is that the pictures of the Princess during 1954 are inconsistent. Certainly in May of that year there are pictures of Princess Margaret where you could put your hand round her waist but throughout the year, the dresses are getting bigger.
Around the time of Brown’s birth, it was reported that Margaret was confined to bed with what was described as a "hacking cough" - something Brown believes could be conclusive in proving his claim to the throne. However, questions have arisen concerning the authenticity of Brown’s claims, especially how a public figure like Princess Margaret could keep a pregnancy hidden.
Buckingham Palace refused to accept Brown’s earlier offer of a DNA test to prove his royal patronage.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace says, "While there is a court case pending we can’t comment on the matter."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:09 pm

"I found out that I was a coward. I became very susceptible to depression.
"It wasn’t the happiest time of our lives. I was very edgy, almost like I wasn’t really alive. I was living inside the record. It was a dark time."

GEORGE MICHAEL PANNED FOR ‘STUPID AND NAIVE’ DRUG COMMENTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 pm

LATEST: Anti-drug and alcohol campaigners have branded GEORGE MICHAEL "stupid and naive" for his recent comments promoting drug use.
The singer claimed this week (ends20OCT06) that smoking cannabis kept him "sane and happy", and was filmed lighting a joint before an interview for British TV arts programme THE SOUTH BANK SHOW.
However, campaigners have condemned the OUTSIDE singer’s relaxed attitude, and claim his behaviour could influence young people to start using the drug.
PAUL CORRY, of mental health charity Rethink, says, "His comments are stupid and naive. Cannabis is not a risk-free drug. For a significant minority of people it is a trigger for developing a severe long term mental illness like schizophrenia.
"Those most at risk are young people, the core of George Michael’s audience, and people who use it over a long time and in large amounts.
WILLIAM BUTLER, of drug and alcohol treatment charity Addiction, says, "We are concerned about the message this can send to young people. "We need stronger and clearer messages about cannabis harm."

CHURCH TO KISS-AND-MAKE-UP WITH COLE?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 pm

Welsh singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH has been invited to kiss and make-up with her chart foe, GIRLS ALOUD singer CHERYL COLE.
Church and Cole have been embroiled in a public war of words since the VOICE OF AN ANGEL moved away from her trademark classical singing style and into the pop realm with single CRAZY CHICK.
Cole says, "Someone asked me if I was devastated we hadn’t had a chance to record Crazy Chick. I just felt like it was an insult, because we had made good records.
"I said we’re moving on now, so if Charlotte wants to do that sound she can.
"Then she started ranting and raving. We’ve yet to kiss and make up, but I’m open to the idea." After Cole’s initial comments in July 2005, Church responded by saying, "Girls Aloud wouldn’t be able to sing Crazy Chick if they possibly tried. They just don’t have the range, darling. And when they’ve sold as many records as me, then they can comment … Maybe Cheryl is bitter."

JACKMAN THRILLED BY GRANDMA’S HEART-STOPPING LETTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:06 am

Movie hunk HUGH JACKMAN felt sure he had been served a summons as he read a letter from an elderly fan who had been taken seriously ill after he carried her to her seat at a show.
The actor was starring in stage musical THE BOY FROM OZ in a stadium in his native Australia recently when he chose to escort an enthusiastic fan and her grandmother from the back row to the front during the show.
Jackman quickly realised this wasn’t a good idea when the elderly woman grabbed a cane and shuffled towards him.
So, rather than halt the live show, the quick-thinking Aussie insisted the grandma jump on his back and he carried her to her new seat.
It was the highpoint of a great evening, but then Jackman’s heart stopped when he received a letter from the elderly lady weeks later.
He explains, "She told me that that evening… she was administered (sic) into hospital and her heart stopped three times.
"I’m reading this letter… ready to turn and see a summons to court or something, and she just said, ‘I don’t want you to feel bad; I’m only telling you this because you’re the first man in my life who has stopped my heart.’"

TILLY NOT A FAN OF CHINESE MOUNTAIN CUISINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:06 am

JENNIFER TILLY almost starved on the set of her first Chinese movie because she found the local delicacies in the mountain village where she was filming hard to stomach.
The BOUND star attempted to make the most of the local cuisine but struggled with chewy pig intestines and bone marrow.
The actress explains, "We would leave it to ALICIA, my little translator, to order things… and we’d say very very clearly, ‘Beef, lamb, squash, onions.’ "So, the beef would come and we’d recognise that… and then weird things would come like a plate of slippery white stuff, and I’d go, ‘What is that..?’ and Alicia goes, ‘Bone marrow.’ "Then, another thing they put in the middle of the pot; I thought it was mushrooms, they let me believe that… it was little shrivelled-up brown things.
"I said, ‘What kind of mushrooms is this (sic)?’ and they said, ‘Not mushrooms, how you say intestine of pig.’ "They also have a thing called a famine cookie… You bite into one of those there (and) inside is like twigs and weeds but they’re flavoured with fish scales… They eat everything up there.
"I think I might have lost a little weight."

MOON RIVER HELPS FIELD COPE WITH FLIGHT PHOBIA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:03 am

Actress SALLY FIELD has adopted classic tune MOON RIVER as her personal inflight tune - to help her cope with air trips.
The Oscar winner escaped with her life 18 years ago when she was a passenger on entertainer MERV GRIFFIN’s private jet, which crashed during take-off in Aspen, Colorado - and she has never been a good flyer since.
She recalls, "The steering mechanism flew out of the plane… We were at take-off speed and we couldn’t stop the plane or steer the plane. The only time I knew we were in trouble was when we went off the runway (and) into the terrain.
"We tipped the nose of one plane and went broadside into another… there was no reason why we didn’t explode.
"I had my baby, who I luckily had held on to. The scary thing was is he wasn’t buckled in; he was sitting on my lap. I was buckled in. All I could think of was, ‘Hold on to him, hold on to him.’ "I jumped off the wing and rolled with my little SAMMY the way you’re supposed to and ran down the tarmac with no shoes on… and my mother’s beside me running and I realised I was covered with gasoline because it was spurting everywhere.
"Ever since then I don’t fly well… I’m a real white knuckler. If it gets bumpy, I lay my head down and sing Moon River. It’s my one song that gets me through."
