FAMOUS CLASH SPLINTERS FEATURE IN HALL OF FAME EXHIBIT
A new Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame tribute to rockers THE CLASH will feature splinters from the bass guitar PAUL SIMONON is seen smashing on the cover of the group’s landmark LONDON CALLING album.
The REVOLUTION ROCK: THE STORY OF THE CLASH exhibition, which runs from Saturday (21OCT06) until next spring (07), also features clothing and handwritten lyrics - and has left guitarist MICK JONES contemplating his own mortality.
He says, "It’s a bit of a heavy one, actually. When you get to the museum level, you’re usually dead, aren’t you? It’s like a little bit of a crisis.
"I never set out for anything like this kind of thing. I’m sure none of us did. We didn’t think about what we were doing all that much; we just sort of did it. Now everybody’s got much more benefit of hindsight on it."
