Actress BLYTHE DANNER has laughed off reports she’s being lined up to date SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, insisting she’s never even met the veteran rocker.
Danner’s daughter GWYNETH PALTROW and McCartney’s daughter STELLA were rumoured to be matchmaking their widowed parents.
Paltrow’s director dad BRUCE died in 2002 while Stella’s mum LINDA McCARTNEY passed away from breast cancer in 1998. The former BEATLE split from second wife HEATHER MILLS earlier this year (06).
But Danner insists the suggestion is ridiculous.
The MEET THE PARENTS star says, "They (press) are reaching, aren’t they? "Poor guy (McCartney). He’s going through enough hell. Why would he want to get saddled with anyone again? Certainly not an older woman."

Actress ELLEN BARKIN stunned guests at a tribute to GEORGE CLOONEY by claiming she has had sex with the movie star.

Irish boy band WESTLIFE have slammed the British press for blaming DELTA GOODREM for the demise of their former bandmate BRIAN McFADDEN’s marriage.
The FLYING WITHOUT WINGS hitmakers insist the Australian pop star, who collaborated on their last album, is an innocent victim and had nothing to do with McFadden’s split from KERRY KATONA in 2004.
In recent months, details of their tempestuous marriage have dominated British newspapers, with Katona claiming her ex-husband’s relationship with Goodrem pushed her towards drink and drug abuse.
But the band are adamant Goodrem played no direct part in the heartbreak.

THE STRANGLERS rocker JEAN-JACQUES BURNEL blames a fight he had with THE CLASH bassist PAUL SIMONON for almost wrecking his band’s career in the mid-1970s.
Bass player Burnel and Stranglers keyboardist DAVE GREENFIELD both became involved in a brawl that turned the British music press against them.
Burnell says, "In 1976, when we supported the RAMONES, I had a punch-up with Paul Simonon from The Clash, and that was seen by everyone.
"Dave had JOHN LYDON (SEX PISTOLS frontman JOHNNY ROTTEN) up against a transit van, while (The Clash frontman) JOE STRUMMER and (The Stranglers guitarist) HUGH CORNWELL stood at the side, saying, ‘I think your bass player is having a thing with my bass player.’ "Ever since that, the press were against us. Those journalists are dead or retired and the people reviewing our records now don’t know about all that b**locks."

Actor WESLEY SNIPES has been indicted on eight counts of tax fraud over allegations he tried to cheat the US government out of millions of dollars in false refund claims.
The WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP star also failed to file tax returns for six years between 1999 and 2004, according to legal documents filed in Tampa, Florida.
He could face up to 16 years behind bars if found guilty of the tax offences, which total nearly $12 million (£6.7 million) in fraudulently claimed refunds on income taxes paid in 1996 and 1997.
Snipes has so far evaded arrest because authories cannot find him.
In 2002, the Justice Department sued a Florida tax preparer who it said filed bogus tax refund claims, including a $7.3 million (£4.1 million) demand for Snipes. The actor was not named as a defendant in that case.

Hip-hop star FABOLOUS was shot in the leg during an altercation in a New York City parking garage in the early hours of this morning (17OCT06).
The BREATHE rapper - real name JOHN JACKSON - was hit in the thigh when a man approached him and three companions and opened fire.
The four men jumped into their vehicle and fled the scene, but were stopped by police when they ran a red light, according to New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson Sergeant MIKE WYSOKOWSKI.
Investigating officers found two loaded weapons in the vehicle and arrested all four men. Jackson was taken to hospital to receive treatment for his wound, and is now in a stable condition.

ST LUNATIC rapper ALI JONES claims he was subjected to police brutality by an officer who "repeatedly" used a taser gun to subdue him during his arrest on Saturday (14OCT06) for minor traffic offences.
Jones was pulled over by traffic cops in Hazelwood, Missouri for allegedly driving his Corvette sports car with an expired license and tags - but he’s also been hit with third-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and property damage to a police car charges.
The 34-year-old insists he was handcuffed in the back of a squad car when the arresting officer stunned him up to 50 times with a 50,000 volt taser gun.
He says, "He gets out, opens the backdoor and he tases me over and over. I was afraid. I had a bowel movement on myself, he tased me so long. You see my back, he tased me over and over and he held it every time." Jones also claims the officer made racist comments and threatened to kill him if he went ahead with plans to open a restaurant in the area with his bandmates.
He adds, "I’ve got to get a restraining order. He said if he sees me anywhere around here, he’s going to do something. He’ll shoot me, he told me he’ll shoot me." But Missouri police take a different stance, insisting Jones forcefully resisted arrest. He is currently free on $1,500 (£830) bail.

Irish rocker BONO has renewed his efforts to keep hold of a Stetson hat ’stolen’ by a former stylist, by giving evidence at her appeal in Dublin, Ireland earlier today (17OCT06).
LOLA CASHMAN alleges she was given the hat and other memorabilia as presents by the band following their 1987 Joshua Tree tour and tried to sell them at Christie’s auction house in 2002.
U2 successfully sued last year (05) for the recovery of the trademark hat, a pair of earrings, a sweatshirt and a pair of trousers, claiming Cashman took them without permission.
However, after Cashman launched an appeal, Bono was today forced to recount his evidence in Dublin High Court.
Although taking care to praise the stylist’s talents, the singer insisted she lacked social skills: "She had a very good eye. She had a lot more experience than us. But it was very clear on almost immediate arrival she wasn’t a good in dealing with personal relationships, and initially put a lot of people’s noses out of place." The court also heard Cashman was responsible for the transport of all wardrobe items.
The case continues.

Dita, who is married to goth rocker Marilyn Manson, admits she had no hesitation in taking legal action over the matter.
She told Britain’s Esquire magazine: "If somebody copies what I do in a really stupid and obvious way, like by putting a giant martini glass with a sponge olive in their film, then I have to do something. I’ve prevailed and they deserve what they’ve got.
"I’d worked with the choreographer for my act - the attorneys all looked at my footage, then at the movie and were like, ‘Oh.’" Dita has also revealed that photographers would try to trick her into using her pictures for phone sex adverts when she first started posing nude.
The dancer insists the industry she works in is full of people who want to take advantage of you.

Music producer Jermaine Dupri has threatened to resign as president of Virgin Records’ urban division because he claims label chairman Jason Flom has failed to promote Janet’s LP ‘20 Y.O.’.
A source revealed to the New York Daily News newspaper: "Jermaine blames Virgin for not getting the album enough airplay and not working it." Jermaine is desperate to boost record sales and is trying to persuade Mariah Carey to record a duet with Janet on a track that would be added to a new version of the disc.
It is estimated that there are still 200,000 unsold copies of the first batch.
A source close to Flom has hit back at Jermaine’s claims, saying: "Jason wants the CD to be a hit as much as anyone. But Janet just didn’t have the goods." Sales of ‘20 Y.O.’ dropped by 74 per cent in the second week of its release and it fell from number two to number nine on the Nielsen SoundScan chart.
Jermaine was also furious with the way Virgin record bosses handled Janet’s last album, ‘Damita Jo’.
He fumed: "They just didn’t push the project."

Malawi-born DAVID BANDA travelled with the singer’s bodyguard and personal assistant, and was met by a press frenzy when he arrived at Madonna’s London home this morning (17OCT06).
Although covered in a grey hooded top to avoid the media glare as he traveled through London’s Heathrow Airport, reports say the tot was alert and well following the long-haul flight.
Despite accusations from Malawi charities that Madonna and husband GUY RITCHIE are bending the rules to secure parental rights to the child so quickly, the couple was officially granted an interim adoption yesterday (16OCT06).
The decision by a Malawian court gives them temporary custody of the 13-month-old child for 18 months.
