PAPER APOLOGISES TO LLOYD WEBBER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:06 pm

British newspaper The Independent has issued an apology to musical giant SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, after it claimed his reality TV show HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA? was fixed (23SEP06).
The paper claimed the outcome of the talent contest to find Maria for the West End production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC had been decided by Lloyd Webber long before the show began, and that the impresario had shown favouritism towards eventual winner CONNIE FISHER.
The paper said, "We would like to make it clear that our article "How do you solve a problem like Maria? Not with a TV show" did not mean to imply that Andrew Lloyd Webber made any attempt to fix the outcome of the BBC show of the same name. We have always accepted the outcome of the show was by public vote.
"We also accept that it was wrong to suggest Andrew Lloyd Webber showed favouritism towards the winner; that a ‘plant’ was hired and that the winner was recording a CD before the result.
"We apologise to Andrew Lloyd Webber for the distress and embarrassment caused." (JC/WNBIN/ES) * BECK: ‘I WAS SHOCKED BY COYNE ATTACK’ Cult rocker BECK was "totally surprised" when THE FLAMING LIPS frontman WAYNE COYNE slammed him in an interview.
The LOSER singer found the attack unexpected because the pair had got on so well during their year-long joint tour.
In a recent interview, Coyne said, "Being around Beck, I did get the feeling that he’s just removed from everyday existence.
"Beck didn’t treat people badly, he was just so oblivious to other people’s lives. None of it’s horrible. He’s not a Nazi or anything. He’s just a little inconsiderate. To be considerate you have to have some idea of what’s going on.
I mean, we’d be set to rehearse from noon till midnight every day. And there’d be days when he wouldn’t show up at all, and he doesn’t call. I mean, we have cellphones." In response, Beck says, "I was totally surprised, the last time I’d seen him, he was like, ‘I love you like a brother, you’ve helped us so much and I’ll always be your friend.’" But Beck isn’t holding a grudge against Coyne, saying the attack reflects his outspoken personality.
He explains, "He’s a showman and he picks on people sometimes. He does it to everybody, his band, his friends, anybody who walks in the room. I think in the press it comes off as an attack, but he’s just on permanent truth serum."
