GIBSON’S COMMENTS SPARKED BY WAR CONFLICT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:57 am

LATEST: MEL GIBSON’s insists he is not anti-Semitic and that the discriminatory statements he made when he was arrested were sparked by the ongoing war between Israel and Lebanon.
The Oscar-winner was arrested on 28 July (06) for drink driving and claims the anti-Semitic statements he made at the time were because of the war, which had begun 17 days earlier.
He tells DIANE SAWYER on US TV show GOOD MORNING AMERICA, "Now, maybe it was just that very day that Lebanon and Israel were at it, you know." After spending several minutes discussing the crisis, Gibson finally said he wanted to face the camera and make a statement.
He said, "Let me be real clear here, in sobriety, sitting here, in front of you, on national television.
"I don’t believe that Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. I mean that’s an outrageous, drunken statement." Gibson said he felt "ashamed" of his behaviour and claims he is speaking out now about his arrest because he didn’t want to wait until later and be accused of talking about the incident to gain publicity for his new film APOLCALYPTO, when is set for release in December (06).
