BRAD PITT will produce the film EAT, PRAY, LOVE for his former co-star JULIA ROBERTS.
Pitt snapped up the rights to ELIZABETH GILBERT’s memoir for Roberts, who was his co-star in THE MEXICAN, as well OCEAN’S ELEVEN.
NIP/TUCK creator RYAN MURPHY will adapt and direct the project with Pitt’s Plan B production company.
Roberts will play Gilbert who had a husband, big apartment and a weekend home and was trying to get pregnant, when she realised that wasn’t the life she wanted.
After a painful divorce, she set off on a journey of self-discovery around the world. The film will be a large-scale epic that covers four countries.
The author has rebuffed numerous overtures from actresses eager to play the lead role and selected Roberts to portray her on the big screen.
Pitt and Murphy are developing a series of projects together including the feature film RUNNING WITH SCISSORS and a TV series titled 4 OZ.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN will be honoured with a Celebrity Best Friend award at an annual fundraiser for the Wildlife Waystation this Saturday (14OCT06).
The animal-loving TV star, engaged to singer MICHAEL BOLTON, will collect her award at the Playboy Mansion ceremony in Los Angeles.
The event marks the 30th anniversary of the Wildlife Waystation, a sanctuary for wild and exotic animals in the Angeles National Forest in Little Tujunga Canyon.

Actor ROBIN WILLIAMS has hit out at political correctness when it comes to electing the US president, because it’s impossible for candidates not to have a skeleton in their closet.
The Oscar winner, who plays an outspoken and honest talk show host who lands the job of American leader in new movie MAN OF THE YEAR, argues that the vast majority of previous presidents would never have been elected based on contemporary standards.
He says, "You might be extremely qualified, but if your life isn’t squeaky clean, you can’t be president.
"If you applied the same moral standards to most of the presidents we’ve had, they wouldn’t even be nominated."

The cast of LOST live in fear of their characters being killed off, according to actor JOSH HOLLOWAY.
Holloway, who plays JAMES ‘SAWYER’ FORD in the hit US show, admits not knowing what will happen in upcoming episodes adds to the excitement on set.
But he claims it also worries castmembers, particularly those with families.
Holloway says, "Everybody in the cast worries about being killed off, and we wouldn’t know until they handed us the script - three days before shooting.
"It’s a sensitive issue. People have houses here, kids in school. Most of us aren’t in our twenties anymore."

AMERICAN PIE star TARA REID was devastated after her body was left ravaged by botched breast implant and liposuction procedures.
The star originally decided to have plastic surgery to fix her lop-sided cleavage and ended up being embarrassed to show her body in public.
She tells American publication Us Weekly, "I got my breasts done for the first time because my breasts were uneven. I was a 34B, but the right one was always bigger than the left.
"I weigh 110 pounds (50 kilograms) now, but I always used to fluctuate by 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms), so my skin was kind of saggy. I figured, ‘I’m in Hollywood, I’m getting older, I’m going to fix them.’" The 30-year-old says the operation went wrong from the very beginning saying, "First of all, I asked for big Bs, and he (the doctor) did not give me big Bs.
He gave me Cs, and I didn’t want them. At all.
"Right after the surgery, I had some bumps along the edges of my nipples, but the doctor said, ‘Don’t worry, it’s going to be better.’ But after six months it started to get worse and worse." The actress says her breast implants made her self-conscious - especially when it came to being intimate.
She says, "Guys I was dating would be like, ‘What’s wrong with them? They look really bad. You know, you should really get them fixed.’ "So embarrassing. I mean, you definitely need to turn the lights off, that’s for sure." Reid also underwent liposuction on her thin frame at the same time to make her muscles appear more sculpted.
She says, "I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted - I’m not going to lie - a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing." Reid underwent reconstructive surgery last month (SEP06) and has endured a painful recovery, but insists her life is back on track.
She adds, "I’ll never be perfect again, but I’ve got my self confidence back."

GREY’S ANATOMY co-stars PATRICK DEMPSEY and ISAIAH WASHINGTON were involved in a heated argument on the set of their hit show on Monday (10OCT06) which nearly ended in a fist-fight.
Dempsey, 40, and Washington, 43, nearly came to blows during a spat over shooting issues.
Washington tells US publication People, "We were like two baseball players…
nose-to-nose. "We had a difference of opinions while working on set but we’ve resolved it." Washington, who plays DR PRESTON BURKE says the fight began over "time and (keeping) the production going. The communication was lost in translation." But he says no punches were thrown adding, "Our faces are too beautiful for that!" Dempsey’s representative says, "In close families arguments happen. They worked it out." Washington added jokingly, "I’ve never been that close to (Patrick) before.
He has really pretty blue eyes."

MEL GIBSON accepts he may struggle to find work after his alcohol-fuelled anti-Semitic rant in July (06) sparked outrage across the globe.
In an interview with US newswoman DIANE SAWYER, the actor admitted his "vitriolic and harmful words" following his arrest for drink driving were bound to cause offence.
The 50-year-old star has made few public appearances since the incident in Malibu, California, where he told his arresting officer, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." But, after issuing a public apology for the tirade, Gibson is unsure what else he can do to placate sections of the movie industry.
He says, "I feel sad because they’ve obviously been hurt and frightened and offended enough to feel that they have to do that (boycott him).
"It’s their choice. There’s nothing I can do about that." In the interview, to air on US breakfast show GOOD MORNING AMERICA on Thursday (12OCT06) and Friday (13OCT06), Gibson revealed he plans to continue making movies: "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."

LATEST: HOWARD K STERN is listed as the father of reality star ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s newborn daughter on her birth certificate issued in the Bahamas.
On the certificate, issued by the Registrar General’s office in Nassau, The Bahamas, the baby is identified as DANNIELYNN HOPE MARSHALL STERN, born on 7 September (06) in the Doctors Hospital in Nassau on the island of New Providence.
Stern appeared on LARRY KING LIVE last month (SEP06), where he announced he was the father of the baby.
However, photographer LARRY BIRKHEAD has disputed his claim and has filed papers in California to establish that he is actually the father.

LATEST: MEL GIBSON insists he is working to heal himself after emerging from rehab and has been sober for the past 65 days.
Gibson entered rehab after being arrested for drink driving in July (06) where he launched into an anti-Semitic rant when he was pulled over by police.
The 50-year-old star sat down with DIANE SAWYER for an interview on US breakfast show GOOD MORNING AMERICA, which airs on Thursday (12OCT06) and Friday (13OCT06).
Gibson tells Sawyer he began drinking two months before sheriff’s deputies arrested him in Malibu, California on 28 July (06).
He explains, "Years go by, you’re fine. And then all of a sudden in a heartbeat, in an instant, on an impulse, somebody shoves a glass of Mescal (tequila) in front of your nose and says, ‘It’s from Oaxaca.’ "And it’s burning its way through your oesophagus and you go, ‘Oh, man, what did I do that for?’ I can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube." The BRAVEHEART star says that staying sober is a struggle, but that he will continue to work to heal himself and those he offended.
He adds, "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."

Rockers EVANESCENCE have jumped straight in at number one in the US albums chart, knocking LUDACRIS off the top spot after just one week.
Evanescence’s THE OPEN DOOR shifted 447,000 copies in American during its first week of release, while Ludacris’ RELEASE THERAPY falls to number six with sales of 113,000.
At number two is a new entry for THE KILLERS with second album SAM’S TOWN, while GEORGE STRAIT is another new entry at number three with IT JUST COMES NATURAL.

Veteran singer FRANKIE VALLI will be presented with the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Lifetime Achievement Award on 21 October (06).
The GREASE star will collect his honour at the NIAF’s 31st Anniversary Awards Gala at Hilton Washington & Towers in Washington DC.
The night before (20OCT06) the ceremony, Valli will perform at the hotel with his group THE FOUR SEASONS.
Elsewhere at the awards event, late actress ANNE BANCROFT will be posthumously inducted into the NIAF Italian American Hall Of Fame. Her film-maker husband MEL BROOKS will pick up the award, which will be presented by actor ALAN ALDA, on her behalf.

Singer/actor JACK BLACK has slammed the suggestion TENACIOUS D has sold out just because the band has signed to a major record label and will soon release its own movie.
Black, who stars in upcoming film THE PICK OF DESTINY alongside his bandmate KYLE GASS, rubbishes the idea Tenacious D has lost its integrity.
He says, "What does it mean to sell out? Does that mean you’ve stopped doing good work because you’ve sacrificed your integrity? If the product you’re getting paid to make is just as good as the product you were making for free, I don’t understand what the sell-out is.
"We’re doing exactly what we want. Nobody f**king wrote this movie for us or tells us what to do. How have we sold out? It makes no sense."

Country star JOSH TURNER and his wife JENNIFER FORD TURNER are celebrating after the birth of their first child on Friday (06OCT06).
Baby HAMPTON OTIS TURNER was born at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He weighed eight pounds and 12 ounces (3.968 kilograms).
Turner’s single WOULD YOU GO WITH ME is currently number one on Billboard’s country singles chart.

The English country home where JOHN LENNON lived at the height of Beatlemania up for sale in the UK for $11.1 million (£6 million).
The six-bedroom house outside Weybridge, Surrey, is located south west of London and features five reception rooms, a playroom, sauna and swimming pool.
Lennon bought the property in 1964 and lived there with his first wife CYNTHIA and son JULIAN until 1968, when the two split and Lennon starting dating Japanese artist YOKO ONO.
Fellow Beatles RINGO STARR and GEORGE HARRISON also lived in the area, although Lennon later revealed he didn’t enjoy living there.
RICHARD PORTER, who guides 8,000 Beatles fans a year around London and helps run the British Beatles Fan Club says, "In the ’60s, Ringo lived nearby and George just down the road in Esher.
"But John later said he felt isolated there." In 1968, while his wife was vacationing in Greece, Lennon invited Ono to the house, known as Kenwood.
Cynthia Lennon wrote in her book JOHN, that she returned early from her vacation to find Ono in residence at the house and wearing her bathrobe.
The property was later sold in the divorce settlement.

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has angered thousands of YouTube members with the launch of his Diddy TV channel on the filesharing website, announcing his association with Burger King.
The declaration of his deal with Burger King has led to over 5,000 online comments, most of them criticising the commercialisation of YouTube, which was yesterday (10OCT06) bought by Google for $1.65 billion (£916 million).
One user, NICKV11763, complains that Diddy TV will lead to "all kinds of ads before every YouTube video you watch… soon it will be like TV, and we will all have less freedom to post what we want to post." A Burger King spokesperson tells MTV, "YouTube is all about free expression, and Burger King wants consumers to continue to ‘have it your way’."

LATEST: The three year custody battle between pop star MICHAEL JACKSON and ex-wife DEBBIE ROWE has finally ended after she agreed to a cash payment in return for giving up her parental rights.
Rowe had filed for visitation rights and custody of the couple’s children, PRINCE MICHAEL, nine, and PARIS MICHAEL, eight, which she voluntarily gave up in 2001.
A source close to Jackson tells American publication Us Weekly that Rowe has given up all visitation rights in exchange for reinstated, bi-monthly alimony payments of approximately $750,000 (£417,000) a year.
According to a source, "It was hard for Debbie, but she’s broke." Jackson’s attorney MICHAEL ABRAMS says, "Michael is satisfied with the results, and I believe Ms Rowe is satisfied."

Madonna and her director husband GUY RITCHIE arrived in Malawi last Wednesday (04OCT06) and have met local orphans and government ministers during their time there.
When rumours first surfaced last week that the couple were adopting a sibling for the singer’s daughter LOURDES and their son ROCCO, Madonna’s spokeswoman LIZ ROSENBERG said, "She has not adopted a baby - despite reports that she has." However, today’s (11OCT06) The Sun newspaper in Britain claims the MATERIAL GIRL has adopted a 13-month-old boy named DAVID BANDA, whose mother MARITA died shortly after his birth.
The tot’s father YOHANE BANDA, 32, told the paper, "I am very, very happy because as you can see there is poverty in this village and I know he will be very well looked after in America." When asked for comment by the Reuters news agency, a London-based spokeswoman for Madonna did not confirm or deny the adoption reports, but said, "At this time we are unable to give you official confirmation. We may have an official statement within 48 hours."
