British actor ALAN CUMMING is so disturbed by the actions of his stage character in harrowing play BENT, he fears he may not last the course of its West End run.
The bisexual X-MEN star plays a gay German during Nazi Germany who is sent to a concentration camp. Part of his role involves Cumming helping to beat to death his stage boyfriend and describe acts of necrophilia and child abuse.
He says, "The only thing you can do with a play like that is not to think about it. I wind down with some physical stretching afterwards and have time to myself.
"I also steer clear of people who’ve seen the play because all they do is come up to me and tell me how distressing it is. The run lasts until January whether I last as long is another matter!"

Irish rockers U2 have sensationally ended their 27-year relationship with Island Records in advance of their upcoming Greatest Hits Collection.
Media reports hint the move to Mercury may be prompted by its new president, JASON ILEY, whose team looked after the BEAUTIFUL DAY stars at Island before he quit in May (06).
U2 ended their US contract with Island for similar reasons 10 years ago (96).
They switched to Interscope in pursuit of new boss JIMMY IOVINE after he jumped labels.
The BONO-fronted band has so far refused to comment on the management change.
The Greatest Hits Collection is due for release next month (NOV06).

LATEST: British singer JAMELIA’s relationship with her soccer star fiance DARREN BYFIELD has been on the rocks "for six months", according to reports.
Byfield, who is alleged to have cheated on the THANK YOU singer with model JACLYN EVANS, confessed to friends that he moved out of their Essex, England, home after blazing rows with the 25-year-old beauty.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Darren has been telling pals that they’ve been unhappy for six months and are rowing constantly.
"He won’t say specifics - but he says they argue about everything, particularly him going partying with the lads, so it’s just been easier for him to stay away." Another pal claims Byfield feels threatened by Jamelia’s success.
The singer, who has a one-year-old daughter, TIANI, with the soccer ace, announced the couple’s marriage plans last month (SEP06), saying they plan to wed next summer (07). However, Byfield appears to have other ideas.
The source says, "He has no plans to marry her. He says it’s always Jamelia answering the questions about getting hitched." A spokesman for the pop star refused to comment, saying, "Jamelia is not ready to talk."

OASIS frontman LIAM GALLAGHER is buying a $7.5 million (£4 million) home inspired by cult TV series THE THUNDERBIRDS.
The house, named Thunderbird, is located in an area dubbed Millionaire’s Row in the Sandbanks region of Dorset, England, and is based on the design of the Tracy Island Headquarters in the 1960s children’s puppet show.
The luxurious five-bedroom house features seven bathrooms, an outdoor pool, a cinema and a gym, and is said to be "a modern architectural masterpiece" in an area far-removed from the British rock star’s life in London.

Two US tourists filmed themselves wandering around Paul’s English estate at Peasmarsh, East Sussex, and recorded footage of his cars and home, before posting the video on the YouTube website.
Paul is reportedly "livid" that the fans managed to sneak into the 933-acre estate and has ordered his staff to tighten security.
A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: "Macca is livid. He is supposed to have tight security to protect him and his family but this pair walked straight in. It’s lucky they were harmless. He didn’t need something like this to happen, his divorce to Heather Mills is giving him enough stress." It is thought the two intruders entered Paul’s land via a public footpath running close to the borders of his estate.
As they head towards the musician’s house, they are heard saying on the video: "This is it. This is his house. It’s beautiful. Oh God, we are going to be in so much trouble." In another clip, muffled singing and music can be heard and the tourists claim it is Paul.
The 64-year-old musician has previously complained that the public footpath runs too close to his home.
This is not the first time a former member of the Beatles has been the victim of obsessive fans.
John Lennon was shot dead by crazed fan Mark Chapman in New York in 1980, and George Harrison narrowly escaped death after he was repeatedly stabbed by an intruder in 1999.

The ‘Hung Up’ singer fuelled rumours she was planning to adopt an underprivileged child after visiting another orphanage on Saturday (07.10.06) during her tour of the African country.
Guy has first hand experience of adoption as his mother, Lady Amber, gave up her first baby and he is worried his wife has not fully thought through her plans. A friend told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "Madonna is convinced it is the right thing to do but Guy has been very wary.
"It has led to some serious arguments and put a lot of pressure on their marriage.
"His family are very concerned Madonna wants an African baby as a celebrity status symbol, like Angelina Jolie.
"Guy has adoption issues in his family and is all too aware of the problems. He doesn’t think Madonna has really thought it through." Meanwhile, it has been reported that Madonna has already picked the orphan she plans to adopt, a one-year-old boy called Luca.
The pop superstar - who already has a nine-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from her relationship with fitness instructor Carlos Leon, and son Rocco, five, with Guy - first met the boy at the Mchinji Mission Orphanage last Wednesday (04.10.06) and on Saturday she returned to the home.
It is believed Madonna has hired a top lawyer, Alan Chinula, to help speed up the adoption process - which usually takes six weeks. She hopes to take Luca home with her when she leaves on Friday (13.10.06).
Chinula confirmed: "I am due to meet with a representative of Madonna concerning the adoption soon."

The supermodel and the Babyshambles rocker will wed on her 33rd birthday on January 16 next year, according to Pete’s favourite uncle, Phil Michels, a landscape gardener from Liverpool.
Phil, 57, told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: "It’s really exciting. Pete just turned up at my door last week to tell me – but that is the kind of thing he does. He was driving Kate’s Bentley and took me for a spin in it.
"He’s off the drugs and was looking better than I’ve ever seen him. They were going to get married in Ibiza this year but they couldn’t because he had to go to rehab.
"Pete has bought Kate an engagement ring and has promised her he will stay off heroin. It will be a traditional white wedding and is being attended by all their friends." Kate agreed to marry Pete after he checked into rehab to battle his addictions to crack cocaine and heroin. Since leaving rehab he has managed to stay clean.
Pete, 27, has asked his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat to be his best man and Kate’s pal Sadie Frost will be a bridesmaid along with Kate’s daughter Lila Grace.
Sir Elton John, Sir Richard Branson, actor Jude law and designer Jade Jagger will all be invited.
The couple plan to honeymoon in America where Pete plans to drive his new wife around in a mobile home.

The pair are said to have argued after Nicolette – who plays maneater Edie Britt in the hit series – wanted a designer bag created for Eva’s character Gabrielle Solis.
Designer Charlie Lapson, who created the burgundy leather tote, says the fighting got so unbearable her was forced to create a different bag to keep the two actresses happy.
He told Britain’s Mail On Sunday newspaper: "Both the girls wanted the bag for this one scene. They argued and argued until I decided to design a new bag for Eva." The handbag which caused such a fuss was auctioned for charity last week.
Last week, Eva was injured on the set of ‘Desperate Housewives’.
The actress was taken to hospital after slipping and bruising her ribs on Thursday (05.10.06).
Her publicist, Liza Anderson, said: "Eva slipped on one of the stairs coming out of her trailer. Nothing is broken, but her ribs are very bruised." Despite the injuries, the 31-year-old actress was back on set within a matter of hours.

One resident told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper: "I can see why Liam would want to buy here. It’s special and lots of families have come here after getting stressed by life in the city."

‘The Simple Life’ stars are said to have met up last week at Nicole’s adoptive father Lionel Richie’s Los Angeles home.
The one-time best friends mysteriously fell out over a year ago but last week Paris called Nicole to wish her a belated happy 25th birthday.
