British writer MARTIN AMIS has launched a blistering attack on Islamic extremists, blasting them "miserable b**tards" for brainwashing Muslim teens in a bid to destroy Britain’s multicultural society.
The HOUSE OF MEETINGS writer accuses the extremists of targeting Muslim youths to join the "death cult" that was behind last year’s (05) London bombings and of not trying to fit into a multicultural society.
The son of celebrated writer KINGSLEY AMIS made the comments at the Cheltenham Festival of Literature yesterday (08OCT06) after being asked to describe his recent return to London after two years in Uruguay.
Amis says, "When I come back to Britain I see a pretty good multicultural society. The only element that is not fitting in is Islam.
"In this country what’s happening is that young men in late adolescence and early manhood have a period of self hatred and thoughts of suicide. The idea you can turn this into world history is tremendously powerful."
