A memorial service has been held for Anna Nicole Smith’s dead son.
Family and friends gathered at the First Baptist Church of Mexia, Texas, on Saturday (07.10.06) to pay tribute to Daniel, 20.
He died earlier this month while visiting his mother and baby sister in a hospital in the Bahamas. He had taken a lethal cocktail of drugs.
Around fifty people attended the hour-long ceremony although the former Playboy Playmate did not turn up.
Meanwhile, Anna Nicole’s ex-boyfriend has launched a legal battle to try and prove he is the father of her newborn daughter, Dannie Lynn.
Photojournalist Larry Birkhead filed papers last week demanding that she return to California with the child he claims is his.
The legal fight comes a week after Anna Nicole’s lawyer and lover, Howard K. Stern, said he was the child’s father - claims Larry has dismissed as "laughable".
He said: "I am not surprised he would say this but I am laughing at it. "There is absolutely no way that Stern is the father of this child. He knows it, I know it and that’s all there is to it." Larry is also seeking legal and physical custody of Dannie Lynn.
