Veteran rocker ROD STEWART has defended socialite PARIS HILTON as an "extremely polite" girl who gets a "bad rap" in the press.
The MAGGIE MAY singer’s daughter KIMBERLY STEWART grew up friends with Hilton in Los Angeles.
And Stewart, 61, believes Hilton will soon stop courting the media.
Speaking to US chat show host ELLEN DeGENERES, he says, "I always found Paris to be extremely polite, at least she is when she’s around me. She’s a very nice girl, I think sometimes she gets a bad rap.
"She enjoys her publicity. (But) she’ll grow out of it I think too. When she finds the right guy in her life she’ll get everything in perspective and leave the press alone, and the press will leave her alone hopefully."

Actors BRIAN DENNEHY and CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER will star in a revival of INHERIT THE WIND on Broadway next March (07).
The stars, both Tony Award winners, are lined up to act in a 12 week limited run of the classic JEROME LAWRENCE and ROBERT E LEE play at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City.
DOUG HUGHES, another Tony Award winner for DOUBT, will direct the production.

Hollywood actor NOAH EMMERICH has slammed reports his studio executive brother helps him land movie roles, insisting his sibling’s job often makes it more difficult to find work.
The 41-year-old’s three most recent acting jobs - PRIDE AND GLORY, LITTLE CHILDREN and CELLULAR - have all been distributed by New Line Cinema, where his brother TOBY EMMERICH works.
But Noah denies nepotism is involved in his casting.
He says, "If he owned the studio I wouldn’t be here right now, I’d be on my yacht.
"I began acting before my brother got involved in the film business. Now he’s in production and I’m an actor but it can create problems just because there’s such a scrutiny about nepotism.
"There tends to be a general cattiness and an assumption when I work on a New Line film that he had something to do with that.
"In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The first time it happened my brother said, ‘Isn’t there anybody else we can cast?’ The irony of that paradox is frustrating for me.
"It’s actually more of a hurdle for me to work at New Line than any other studio in town because of that supposed nepotism."

The set of JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT’s hit TV show GHOST WHISPERER is haunted, according to the actress.
Love Hewitt plays a woman who can communicate with the recently deceased in Ghost Whisperer, and the cast and crew are spooked in real life too.
She tells US chat show host MEGAN MULLALLY, "We’ve had lights move, literally three and a half inches to the left, as you’re sitting there the lights move.
"We’ve had lights burst over actors’ heads when they’re playing people who don’t believe in ghosts. A light will burst into a million pieces right over them.
"People are like, ‘We’re not guest-starring on that show!’ "But for us as a crew we’re kind of like, ‘Awesome! Maybe they (the ghosts) are with us.’"

British actor JONNY LEE MILLER remains such good friends with his ex-wife ANGELINA JOLIE, she sent him to film a segment of an upcoming documentary in Angolan minefields.
Miller and Jolie divorced in 1999 after nearly three years of marriage, and the beautiful actress had no problem asking her ex to undertake the dangerous assignment for a new film on the state of the planet.
Speaking to US chat show host MEGAN MULLALLY he says, "There’s so much crazy stuff written about Angie, but she’s just one of the most down-to-earth girls you’re likely to meet.
"We’re such good friends that this documentary she’s been putting together about the globe - she’s sent film crews all around the world - that she’s sent me to a minefield in Angola.
"There’s a lot of love there." Jolie recently gave birth to boyfriend BRAD PITT’s baby daughter SHILOH.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star MARCIA CROSS has confirmed she is expecting twins.
Cross and new husband TOM MAHONEY, who married in June (06), initially announced the actress is pregnant and due to give birth next April (07).
Although the couple didn’t reveal Cross is awaiting the arrival of twins, the news soon leaked, forcing her to confirm it.
She tells US chat show host ELLEN DeGENERES, "This is what happened. I was so blown away about having twins so I needed a minute to deal with it. So we didn’t tell anybody, we just said that I was pregnant.
"I don’t know where it came from, but it got out and everybody started congratulating me and I kind of gave up.
"So… I am having twins."

Former SAVED BY THE BELL star DUSTIN DIAMOND was left amazed during an appearance on US TV’s THE TYRA BANKS SHOW, when the generous host bought $3,000 (£1,670) worth of T-shirts to help save his house.
Diamond, who played school geek SCREECH in the 1990s teen show, is selling autographed T-shirts in a bid to keep his home.
The 29-year-old needs to raise $250,000 (£135,000) to save his Milwaukee, Wisconsin house from a foreclosure order.
The shirts have a photo of the actor as character SCREECH POWERS holding a sign that says, "Save My House." The back of the shirt reads, "I paid $15.00 to save Screech’s house." And kind-hearted Banks decided to hand over the cheque for $3,000, the equivalent of 200 shirts - although she mistakenly thought the amount bought 150 shirts.
A moved Diamond said, "Thank you so much, " before the shirts were handed out around the studio audience.

TWISTED SISTER frontman DEE SNIDER will quit the band for good this year (06), because he dreads the idea of becoming an old rocker.
The heavy metal band reunited in 2001 following a 14 year hiatus, but Snider has now had enough.
He tells Billboard, "I’ve told the guys that I’m done (after 2006).
"I’ve got a lot of things plaguing me. I really resented the older bands that would not know when to get off the f**king stage. I want to get out of the way and let (younger bands) have their chance in the spotlight.
"Am I saying I’ll never do anything ever again? No. But am I serious that I want it to end? Yes. Not because anything’s wrong, but because everything’s right, so I want it to end while everything’s right."

Former BOY MEETS WORLD actress DANIELLE FISHEL had no idea her then-boyfriend LANCE BASS was gay when the pair dated in the late 1990s.
Ex-’N SYNC singer Bass revealed he is gay in July (06) and is currently in a relationship with reality show winner REICHEN LEHMKUHL from THE AMAZING RACE.
And Fishel, 25, was as surprised as anybody when Bass ‘came out.’ She says, "I was 17 and I thought he was amazing. I still do, he’s one of my closest friends. He’s great.
"We ended up just breaking up, our schedules were different.
"At the time I did not know, even though people had been saying things to me like, ‘Do you think maybe…?’ and I was like, ‘No!’ "He was living the life he thought he needed to be living and I’m just so happy for him now that he is now living the life he deserves to live."
