MELUA ENTERS THE RECORD BOOKS
LATEST: British singer KATIE MELUA has entered the Guinness World Records after playing the world’s deepest underwater concert.
The 22-year-old performed her hits CLOSEST THING TO CRAZY and NINE MILLION BICYCLES on the Statoil Troll oil rig, 303 metres (994 feet) below sea level in the North Sea, off the coast of Norway.
Melua enthuses, "This was definitely the most surreal gig I have ever done.
"It took nine minutes to go from the main part of the gas platform down to the bottom of the shaft in a lift.
"Giving a concert to the workers there was something really extraordinary and an occasion that I will remember all my life." The history making gig was filmed for Norwegian TV channel NRK.
