THE RAKES STAR REFUSES TO LET BURBERRY USE HIS SONG
British rockers THE RAKES have refused to allow bosses at Burberry to use one of their hits for a new TV commercial because they’re appalled by the fashion house’s stance on fur.
The group’s frontman, ALAN DONOHUE, is a vegan and took exception when Burberry marketing heads asked to use a Rakes tune as part of an upcoming advertising campaign.
In a letter to Burberry, he writes, "The Rakes will not shop at Burberry or participate in Burberry’s ad campaigns until it pledges to stop supporting cruelty to animals and adopts a permanent fur-free policy.
"Burberry has always touted itself as a fashion leader, but there’s nothing ‘fashionable’ about drowning animals to death or electrocuting or strangling them on fur farms for their coats."
