A British woman, recovering from surgery, was shocked to discover a letter telling her she was dead.
Julia Warnes, from Sutton, had been to a doctor’s appointment following a major operation on a twisted bowel, when she returned home to find a letter from Sutton and East Surrey Water.
The letter, addressed to the household, explained her direct debit had been cancelled due to death.
Warnes joked: "It was very ironic after everything I’ve been through. I thought ‘Am I?’ Well you’d think the doctor would have told me.
"You’ve got to see the funny side."
