98 DEGREES SINGER GETS PROBATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:51 pm

LATEST: Former 98 DEGREES bandmember JEFF TIMMONS pleaded no contest to charges of reckless driving and refusing to sign a citation and was sentenced to a year of probation on Wednesday (27SEP06).
Lawyers for Timmons entered the no contest plea to the two misdemeanours in a Florida courtroom.
The 33-year-old was ordered to undergo treatment for alcohol and substance abuse and must serve 50 hours of community service.
Timmons was pulled over 23 April (06) in a white Mercedes for driving 60 miles (96 kilometres) per hour in a 45 miles (72 kilometres) per hour zone, according to the police report.
He was in Florida for a charity softball game and was originally charged with driving under the influence, but the charge was dropped due to lack of evidence.
According to assistant state attorney MICHELLE PERLMAN, "Mr Timmons refused all physical testing - breath or blood or urine." Authorities said he told police he had "a lot" to drink, but he said later that he’d had only two beers.
Defence attorney MICHAEL DONNELLY said, "In light of the facts, we consider the negotiated plea of reckless driving to be a fair resolution in this case."
