BARRY’S GOLDFINGER CLOSE-CALL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:46 am

Composer JOHN BARRY’s legendary theme song for the 1964 JAMES BOND movie GOLDFINGER almost didn’t make the film, because a producer thought it "the worst f**king song I ever heard".
Film-maker HARRY SALTZMAN was livid when Barry delivered the SHIRLEY BASSEY-sung classic to him.
And it was only down to time constraints that the song was left in.
Barry says, "I got a phone call from Harry. He never used to come down to recording sessions, and he says, ‘John, that is the worst f**king song I ever heard in my life. We open in three weeks’ time, otherwise I’d take that f**king song out of the picture. I’d take it out! Out!’"
