Openly gay actor RUPERT EVERETT insists he would never have a woman pretend to be his girlfriend in order to hide his sexuality because it would be too much trouble.
The MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING star recently revealed his past affairs with female celebrities SUSAN SARANDON and PAULA YATES, but now strictly sticks to men.
He tells MSNBC’s The Scoop, "To be a movie star you have got to have a good-looking girlfriend." Everett claims a phony girlfriend would be "too exhausting" saying, "You need a lot of energy to have a trophy girlfriend.
"I take my hat off to anyone who has one!"

Actress SHANNEN DOHERTY insists her wildchild past has nothing on the likes of PARIS HILTON and LINDSAY LOHAN - because she could never be as outrageous as them.
The former BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 star was caught up in a string of scandals in her heyday, but she doesn’t think any of her exploits match up to those of Hollywood’s current bad girls.
She says, "It’s so funny to me because, looking back at the stuff I did back then, it was just part of the growing up process.
"Compared to what the girls do now it’s kind of mild. Now they’re making porno tapes and they’re doing all sorts of things… I would have to go live in Alaska (if I did that)."

WILL & GRACE star DEBRA MESSING is terrified of swimming in Australia after the death of Crocodile Hunter STEVE IRWIN and has warned the producers of her new film shooting Down Under she won’t go near the water.
Messing begins filming mini-series STARTER WIFE next month (OCT06) and while she is looking forward to working in Australia, she has decided not to shoot any beach scenes.
She tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "I told them I am not going in the ocean. I told them I need a stunt double." Messing, who will be accompanied by her husband DANIEL and their son ROMAN during filming, stars as a Hollywood wife who has been dumped by her movie mogul husband on Australia’s Gold Coast.
In addition to the swimming ban, Messing also told producers her famous red locks wouldn’t be making their way to Australia, because after decades of being a redhead she decided "enough is enough".
She adds, "We were just talking and I was really pushing for dark brown. They (producers) were like, ‘We like the red.’ I was like ‘I bet you do!’"

ALICIA KEYS is set to add animated alien to her impressive resume after signing up to play a green extra-terrestrial in hit children’s series THE BACKYARDIGANS.
The R&B star jumped at the chance to get involved in the cartoon series, which features her niece SHAKYRA LIPSCOMB, and has also written a new song, ALMOST EVERYTHING BOINGA HERE, for the episode in which her likeness appears.
Keys says, "I knew this would be a great project for me to get involved in and working alongside my niece was so much fun."

LANCE BASS is writing a tell-all book that will include him publicly coming out as a gay man, as well as documenting his time with boy band ‘N SYNC.
Bass revealed he is gay in July (06) and is currently in a relationship with reality show winner REICHEN LEHMKUHL from THE AMAZING RACE.
Lehmkuhl released his own autobiography last month (AUG06) about being a gay man in the US Air Force.
Bass tells entertainment news show ACCESS HOLLYWOOD, "Experience is everything with ‘N Sync, all my experience with space travel and Russia and the whole coming out thing.
"I have a lot to say, so I decided to go ahead and start writing it down." In addition to working on his memoirs, Bass is also planning to open a restaurant in Los Angeles, and will be hosting a weekly television countdown show.

PAULA ABDUL is hoping her celebrity is worth thousands of dollars after auctioning a meeting with her on website eBay for charity.
The 1980s pop star-turned-AMERICAN IDOL judge is offering a rich fan a VIP package, which includes two first class plane tickets, a shopping trip on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and the chance to watch a taping of Idol.
The Abdul treat package has gone under the hammer at a $25,000 (£13,900) starting price. The auction will end next week (24SEP06).
All proceeds will be split between Auction Cause and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS shocked students at a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania high school on Monday (18SEP06) when he appeared onstage to encourage them to stay in school.
The 36-year-old surprised the 750 students, who erupted in cheers when they realised who their guest speaker was.
He told the children, "This is a really important time for you all right now.
This is the time that is going to dictate your future. It’s important to know what it takes to achieve your dream." The rap star also asked some of the students to join him onstage and recite some of the goals they hope to achieve in their lives.
He added, "Take responsibility for your future. No excuses!" School officials were so impressed by Combs’ inspiring talk, they have decided to use his words in an anti-truancy campaign.
School principal CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON says, "We wanted someone whom they would sit down and listen to, someone who comes from the same type of background.
"To have a superstar come in is extremely powerful."

Houston filed for a legal separation on 8 September (06) and is seeking custody of their 13-year-old daughter BOBBI KRISTINA.
Brown tells American publication People, "I’m really saddened by the whole situation." He is currently in Boston, Massachusetts celebrating his eldest daughter LAPRINCIA’s 17th birthday, who is his daughter with ex-girlfriend KIM WARD.
The MY PREROGATIVE singer also caught a MIKE EPPS show with a group of friends at Boston’s Comedy Connection on Sunday (17SEP06) night.
According to witnesses, Brown seemed to be in good spirits and was mingling with the crowd of 500 and taking pictures with Epps after the show.
Brown has been linked to KARRINE STEFFANS, who wrote CONFESSIONS OF A VIDEO VIXEN about her life in the hip-hop world, but he has refused to comment on their relationship.

KEVIN FEDERLINE’s ex-girlfriend SHAR JACKSON refuses to meet his children with BRITNEY SPEARS because she wants to keep her life separate from the pop star.
Jackson and Federline have a son, KALEB, two, and a daughter, COREY, four, while Federline also has two sons with Spears, SEAN PRESTON, one, and SUTTON PIERCE, who was born on 12 September (06).
Although Jackson considers Spears a part of her children’s "extended family" she draws the line at meeting her children’s step-siblings, Sean and Sutton.
In an appearance on the DR KEITH ABLOW SHOW, to be screened on Thursday (21SEP06), she insists, "I like to keep my distance." Federline left Jackson while she was pregnant with their second child and went on the European leg of Spears’ tour shortly after meeting her in a Hollywood nightclub.
Jackson insists she wasn’t sorry that her own relationship with Federline broke-up, but was devastated that her children’s stable family life was in jeopardy.
She explains, "As far as I was concerned, I was OK that the relationship ended…but the family breaking up is something painful.
"And honestly I didn’t let it happen. Now in the beginning it was rough, because he was overseas, so I really didn’t have much control over there.
"But when he came back home, I told him, ‘Kevin, I’m not going to let you be a convenient father, when it’s convenient for you.’ "If you are going to be part of these kids’ lives, then you’re going to be a part. If not, then you’re not.’"

Love, who has gone through her own drug abuse problems and now insists she’s clean and sober, jumped at the chance to help another struggling star and agreed to stage an intervention with Davis.
According to the new issue of America’s Us Weekly magazine, Love and Houston have become unlikely friends and former HOLE star Love has turned Houston onto her own addiction counsellor WARREN BOYD.
The publication claims Davis, who discovered Houston, is paying for her expensive counselling sessions.

Beckham has three boys - BROOKLYN, ROMEO and CRUZ - with his ex-SPICE GIRLS wife VICTORIA BECKHAM.

"We have to have a big belief in ourselves. For most of us it’s all about ‘me, me, me’. It’s a mad business.
"You play so many characters, and have to try to almost become them, that the self-absorption can take over your life.
"The moment you have success, people give you things, they make a fuss and try to make your life easy. And the younger you are, the worse it can become.
"At times I’ve thought to myself, ‘I deserve this.’ But I don’t deserve anything at all. I’m 20 for goodness sake."

LATEST: US reality TV star DUANE ‘DOG’ CHAPMAN has turned his recent arrest and incarceration into a segment for his hit cable show.
The bounty hunter, his son and brother were arrested last week (ends15SEP06) as fugitives from Mexican authorities. The trio was charged with conspiracy and the illegal detention of convicted rapist ANDREW LUSTER in a country where bounty hunting is a crime.
They spent almost two days in jail in Hawaii before they were released on bail on Friday (15SEP06).
And Chapman hasn’t wasted the footage of his legal troubles - it featured as part of a special edition of his hit A&E show DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER last night (19SEP06).
Chapman is currently free on $300,000 (£165,000) bail awaiting an extradition hearing set for 16 November (06).
Defiant Chapman says, "If cop killers… and drug lords that have hurt thousands of people are brought back from Mexico, and my sentence is six months, then I’ll gladly meet them (officials) at the Juarez border."

US TV hits WEEDS and ENTOURAGE and quirky movie GRANDMA’S BOY lead the way at the sixth High Times Stony Awards, a prize-giving that celebrates marijuana culture.
Marijuana-friendly drama Weeds garnered eight nominations, including Best TV Series, Best TV Actress, Best TV Actor and Stoner Of The Year, and Entourage four.
The ADAM SANDLER-produced Grandma’s Boy beat all movies to land six Stony nods, including Best Stoner Movie, Best Actor In A Movie, Best Pot Scene In A Movie, and Best Song In A Movie Or TV Series.
ORLANDO BLOOM’s new film HAVEN picked up four nominations, while A SCANNER DARKLY and STONED claimed three apiece.
The Stonys will be handed out at BB King’s in New York on 24 October (06).
Hip-hop star REDMAN and comedian DOUG BENSON will co-host the event.
