BARKER ‘WELCOMED DEATH’
Late British TV star RONNIE BARKER welcomed death towards the end of his illness, according to his comedy partner RONNIE CORBETT.
Barker and Corbett entertained audiences for years with their TWO RONNIES double act, and Corbett knew the end was near when Barker told him he couldn’t "wait to go".
Barker died last October (05) aged 76 after a long battle with heart problems, and Corbett still remembers their last conversation as if it was yesterday.
He says, "My secretary rang and said, ‘Ronnie’s rung and would like to speak to you.’ So I rang him from the car. Towards the end, he would never let us go to see him, because he felt so and awful and looked so unwell.
"I said, ‘We’d love to come down and see you.’ He said, ‘No. I’m going… I’m going and, to be honest, I can’t wait to go.’ That was the last time I spoke to him."
