STINGRAYS ‘MUTILATED’ IN IRWIN REVENGE ATTACKS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 am

Conservationists in Australia believe fans of late CROCODILE HUNTER STEVE IRWIN have embarked on a revenge campaign against the stingray which killed him last week (04SEP06).
The crusading naturalist died after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving on the Great Barrier Reef, and at least 10 of the animals have been found dead with their barbed tails cut off.
MICHAEL HORNBY, executive director of Irwin’s conservation charity Wildlife Warriors, says, "Killing stingrays is not what Steve was about.
"It may be some sort of retribution, or it may be fear, or it may be yet another callous act towards wildlife." Irwin was only the second recorded Australian to have been killed by a stingray.
