LIONEL RICHIE was so heartbroken when he was going through his divorce, he sought advice from his good friend ELIZABETH TAYLOR on how to deal with his emotions.
The SAY YOU, SAY ME star claims his split from second wife DIANE ALEXANDER wasn’t quite as painful as the break-up of his first marriage to BRENDA HARVEY-RICHIE in 1993.
He tells US news show 20/20, "It was a dear friend of mine, Elizabeth Taylor, who gave me some great advice. "I went to her one day and said, ‘Elizabeth, you’ve been divorced, seven, eight times. How do you do it?’ "She said, ‘The first time is the hardest. After that you have an idea of what’s coming.’"
