British comedy actor CHRIS LANGHAM has been charged with nine sex offences today (13SEP06) - just four months after he was landed with 15 child porn charges.
The BAFTA award-winning star of sitcom THE THICK OF IT was told of the new charges when he arrived at a police station near his home in Kent, England to answer bail.
The charges include eight counts of indecent assault and one other sex offence.
Langham, 57, was originally arrested last December (05) following a police child porn investigation. In May (06) he was charged with 15 counts of making indecent images of children.
The star - who it was today announced will not be appearing in a Christmas special episode of The Thick Of It - says he is determined to clear his name.
A statement reads, "I have today been charged with further offences by Kent Police. I have nothing further to add to what I have said previously, namely that I am determined to clear my name but cannot comment further on the allegations due to legal proceedings.
"I request once again that the privacy of my family is respected."

LATEST: TV naturalist STEVE IRWIN’s public memorial service will take place at his beloved ‘Crocoseum’ at Queensland’s Australia Zoo, his widow reveals.
The announcement is the first public comment TERRI has made since her husband was tragically killed by a stingray barb in the chest last Monday (04SEP06).
Much larger venues were initially suggested for the public send-off to accommodate the overwhelming outpouring of grief his death has prompted around the globe.
However, Terri insists the zoo Irwin’s father set up is the most fitting venue for the reptile wrestler’s memorial.
She said in a statement, "I cannot see how a memorial service would work in any other place other than the Crocoseum which he built here at the zoo and of which he was so proud.
"I would therefore ask that everyone please bear with me in this wish and help me to make this happen." The public memorial will take place on Wednesday (20SEP06). Terri, Irwin’s eight-year-old daughter BINDI, his father BOB and his friend and manager JOHN STAINTON will all speak.
The event will be broadcast live on television across Australia, the United States and Asia.
Australian country singer JOHN WILLIAMSON, one of Irwin’s favourite performers, will perform.
A private funeral took place at the zoo on Saturday (09SEP06) after his family turned down Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD’s offer of a state funeral.

LATEST: Police have dismissed media speculation that ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s 20-year-old son DANIEL died of a drug overdose.
Anna Nicole gave birth to a daughter in the Bahamas on Thursday (07SEP06) and Daniel had flown in to celebrate with his mother when he died unexpectedly on Sunday (10SEP06).
The Nassau Guardian, citing unidentified sources, reported a preliminary investigation found he had antidepressants in his system.
However, REGINALD FERGUSON, assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamian Police Force, insists the stories have no truth.
He says, "That’s just talk, we have no evidence at this time to suggest that.
"We have got to give them time to do their job professionally and properly. I wait for them." The results of an official autopsy are scheduled to be announced on Friday (15SEP06).

British singer JAMELIA is finding it difficult to write sad songs because she is so happy with her love life.
The R&B star’s last album THANK YOU was packed with contemplative tracks inspired by a traumatic relationship with an abusive former boyfriend.
But since meeting her devoted husband, soccer player DARREN BYFIELD, the singer has struggled to keep new album WALK WITH ME balanced - because it is impossible to conjure up enough sadness to write more pensive songs.
She says, "It’s a happier record and I hope people get that. It was hard for me to write anything negative.
"I had to really dig deep for those ones - try to be depressed and not sickeningly happy. Everyone has ups and downs but right now I am very up.
"Being in such a good relationship is a totally different experience and something brand new for me."

Dance impresario MOBY and former BLONDIE frontwoman DEBORAH HARRY are teaming up to make a single in honour of their hometown of New York City.
The unlikely pairing will release NEW YORK, NEW YORK next month (06), and Harry insists she couldn’t turn down the chance to sing about the city that inspired her glittering rock career.
She says, "I enjoyed working with and getting to know Moby while recording New York, New York.
"We both live in the city and I love all the inspiration it’s given each of us. Moby has a strong artistic vision but he was also willing to listen to any suggestions that I had which made me feel a real part of the song.
"I hope we can do more in the future."

Rocker-turned-campaigner SIR BOB GELDOF has been unveiled as the unlikely choice to open this year’s (06) Hay literature festival.
The former BOOMTOWN RATS star will kick off the cultural celebration in Segovia, Spain later this month (21SEP06).
The prestigious festival - nicknamed the ‘Woodstock of the mind’ traditionally takes place in Welsh town of Hay-on-Wye but organisers hope venturing abroad will encourage new visitors.
Geldof is scheduled to lecture about his work as the founder of Live Aid.
Authors MARTIN AMIS, IAN McEWAN and FERNANDO SAVATER also feature on this year’s line-up.

LATEST: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE drummer BOB BRYAR has been praised for being "prepared to die" for the band, after he suffered third degree burns working on the band’s latest video.
Bryar was badly injured after an accident making the WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE promo, and after being hospitalised the rocker was faced with frightening complications from a blood infection.
Bryar says, "There was a bubble in (my head) there that could have burst. If it had - and it was close - it could have killed me." But the determined sticksman checked himself out after just three days in order to return to his musical career.
The other bandmates were impressed with his bravery, praising him for his devotion.
Guitarist RAY TORO says, "You know someone is giving everything, when he’s prepared to die for the band."

THE PET SHOP BOYS, LILY ALLEN and the SCISSOR SISTERS are the latest celebrities to pledge their support for a campaign set up in memory of tragic Brit LUCIE BLACKMAN, who was murdered in Japan.
The stars have recorded messages for the Lucie Blackman Trust website, started by Blackman’s father TIM after the 21-year-old vanished while working as a hostess in a Tokyo nightclub in July 2000.
Her dismembered body was found in a cave in the remote fishing village Miura in February 2001, after a seven-month search. Japanese businessman JOJI OBARA was charged with murder and is currently on trial.
The hitmakers recorded their messages for the Trust’s latest campaign, ‘Student Safe’, between their sets at British music festival Bestival on the Isle of Wight off the South coast of England, last weekend (09/10SEP06).
COLDPLAY previously dedicated their song TALK to the late Lucie Blackman at their appearance at the Isle of Wight festival in June (10&11JUN06), and supermodel KATE MOSS has also recorded a message for the site.

The Rolling Stones frontman has reportedly signed a deal, through his company Jagged Films, to co-produce ‘Ruby Tuesday’ - a feature-length cartoon inspired by his band’s song of the same title.
French director Luc Besson’s company, EuropaCorp, are financing the project and will handle distribution for the film, which is described as "a Faustian tale of a single mother searching for happiness in New York".
‘Ruby Tuesday’ will be written and directed by brothers Paul and Gaetan Brizzi, who previously helmed the feature-length cartoon ‘Asterix vs. Caesar ‘ and the ‘Firebird Suite’ segment of ‘Fantasia 2000′.
As part of the contract, the film will feature 12 Rolling Stones songs, although it has not yet been announced which tracks will make the soundtrack.
Work on ‘Ruby Tuesday’ will reportedly begin later this year, with a release date pencilled in for 2008.

The British star has infuriated Kazakhstan leaders with his latest movie, ‘Borat: Cultural Learning of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan’.
Borat is portrayed as a backward, racist and sexist man who, in one of Cohen’s previous comedy sketches, once sung "kill the Jews".
The first scene of Cohen’s latest movie, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last week, shows Borat kissing his sister inappropriately before riding off in a horse-drawn car to explore the US.
Kazakhstan’s President Nazarbayev now plans to fly to America to meet with President Bush to discuss his country’s image.
In a PR blitz the government will promote the "real Kazakhstan" via television and print advertisements ahead of the film’s release in November.
A government spokesman, Roman Vassilenko, said: "The government has expressed its displeasure about Borat’s representation of our country.
"We understand that the film exposes the hypocrisy that exists both here in the US and in the UK and understand that Mr Cohen has a right to freedom of speech.
"But, I certainly don’t think President Nazarbayev and Mr Bush will share a joke about the film.
"The bottom line is we want people to known that he does not represent the true people of Kazakhstan."

The ‘Gladiator’ actor is hosting the event in Brisbane, Australia, near Irwin’s Australia Zoo, next week.
Fearless Irwin died aged 44 - leaving behind his 42-year-old wife Terri, and two children, eight-year-old daughter Bindi and son Bob, two - after being attacked by a stingray last Monday (04.09.06) while filming a wildlife documentary.
Fellow Australian Crowe, 42, was one the first people to pay tribute to the naturist describing him as the "ultimate wildlife warrior".
The actor continued: "He was the Australian we all aspire to. He touched my heart." US film bosses are giving Crowe three days off from shooting new movie ‘American Gangster’ so he can organise and run the concert, and the Oscar-winning actor is paying for his flight back to Australia himself.

British reality TV show BIG BROTHER broke the rules when it held a "golden ticket" contest to find a new housemate, according to watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
Model SUSIE VERRICO, 43, was picked to enter the Big Brother house earlier this summer (06), but the ASA has ruled an independent advisor should have been present when the draw was made.
However, the watchdog has dismissed talk the promotion was a fix.
Television network Channel 4, producer Endemol and food manufacturer Nestle, which hid tickets in bars of its KitKat chocolate, were ordered to meet industry promotional standards in future.

BAND OF BROTHERS star DAMIAN LEWIS is urging people to give up their time and money to help the homeless.
The actor became sympathetic to the plight of those living on the streets of London after playing an alcoholic down-and-out in his latest film KEANE.
Lewis says, "We’re always told, ‘Don’t give to people begging because you’ll only feed the next fix’, which is clearly what happens, but there is an act of some compassion just by giving the money.
"The only real answer, is to devote your time to a charity and do it through a formal system. Doing the film taught me a sense of sympathy and understanding that I perhaps have been slow to have before."
