AZNAVOUR’S AU REVOIR
Veteran French crooner CHARLES AZNAVOUR fears his farewell tour may take eight years to complete - because he has to say goodbye around the world.
The 82-year-old has decided to bow out while he still has his voice and can remember his songs, but insists it isn’t a simple task.
Aznavour - who performs at New York’s Radio City Music Hall next week (18&19SEP06) - tells PageSix.com, "This is my farewell appearance. I’ve seen too many working artists in bad shape.
"One day I’ll not have the same memory. I’ll forget lyrics onstage. When now it occasionally happens, I play with it. They think it was deliberate. No. But now, it is only occasionally.
"However, this is only my English-speaking farewell. Next it’s the Spanish-speaking, then Italian. Last is the French. So, you see, my farewell could take eight years."
