PISTOL JONES ONLY LEARNED TO READ AND WRITE TEN YEARS AGO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:07 am

Former SEX PISTOLS star STEVE JONES only learned to read and write 10 years ago, after spending his time in the punk super group terrified of signing contracts.
The guitarist, who is now a top radio DJ in his adopted Los Angeles, was illiterate for most of his life after quitting school to become a petty thief.
And, despite the occasional lesson from punk pal JOHN LYDON, Jones only really grasped the basic skills a decade ago when he hired a tutor.
He explains, "I went to school, but I didn’t learn. I had no interest. It didn’t make sense to me. I sat in the back with the black kids and the stupid kids.
"When I left school I couldn’t read or write. It was terrible. I was embarrassed. If I ever had to sign anything I was embarrassed.
"(That was) only up until 10 years ago, when I had some lessons. This girl would come over to teach me how to read and write. Before, if I had to go to a bank and sign a cheque, I’d be f**king shaking like I was doing something f**king dodgy.
"I only really learned when I had these lessons with this woman. Yeah, but I did it. Not bad for someone who’s damaged."
