BARRYMORE DEVASTATED BY DUBBED SINGING DEBUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:14 am

DREW BARRYMORE was mortified when she found out she was the only A-list cast member to have their songs dubbed in WOODY ALLEN’s film EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU.
The actress made her singing debut in the 1996 film, but a professional was eventually brought in to record over her voice when film-makers decided her singing wasn’t good enough.
She recalls, "It was a really unfortunate moment in my life. "Ever since then I believed that I couldn’t do it, and that I was a bit of a failure and a bit of a person who didn’t try hard enough, and I’ve always had this sort of sick feeling about it." Barrymore has had to mentally prepare herself for her new role as a low-rent Las Vegas, Nevada, lounge singer in LUCKY YOU, because she has to do her own singing. The star spent five months working diligently with a voice coach and even made a compilation tape of other actresses’ amateur singing in movies, including RITA HAYWORTH in GILDA, MARILYN MONROE in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, DIANE KEATON in ANNIE HALL and MERYL STREEP in POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE.
She adds, "I know when people hear my singing they’ll say, ‘What? She f**king sucks!’ But if they had any idea just what it took to get to the f**king suck place - awesome!"
