DUTCH PRIEST CHARGED IN MADONNA BOMB THREAT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:30 pm

A 63-year-old Dutch priest has confessed to phoning in a fake bomb threat to a Madonna concert in Amsterdam last week (ends03SEP06).
The cleric was reportedly upset about a mock re-enactment of the crucifixion of Christ, which has offended some Christians during earlier concerts in Italy and Germany.
According to prosecution spokesman ROBERT MEULENBROEK, "He was hoping to stop her from performing her famous ‘crucifixion’ act." Meulenbroek said it was likely prosecutors would seek a community service punishment for the priest, since it was probably his first offence.
The priest was arrested almost immediately after making the threat on Sunday (03SEP06), since he used his home phone to make it, and he called an emergency services number where the call was automatically traced.
The two concerts in Amsterdam went ahead as planned on Sunday and Monday (04SEP06), despite a handful of protestors.
The priest was brought before a judge today (08SEP06) and has been released pending judgment.
Meulenbroek added, "We take bomb threats seriously, but in this case it was clear very quickly that it was not real.
"Maybe he should have to learn all of her lyrics by heart (as punishment)."

HILTON REGRETS DRINK DRIVING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:30 pm

LATEST: PARIS HILTON said yesterday (07SEP06) her drink driving arrest "was nothing", but her representative insists she is taking the situation very seriously.
The 25-year-old was pulled over by police in Hollywood at 12:31 am on Thursday (07SEP06) for driving erratically and was found to be legally drunk with a blood alcohol level of .08.
Hilton’s publicist ELLIOTT MINTZ tells the New York Daily News, "She regrets what happened. She did not take this matter lightly or frivolously.
"She had never been arrested before, and it was clearly humiliating and disorienting." The STARS ARE BLIND singer told Los Angeles radio show host RYAN SEACREST that she’d been "speeding a little bit" to fast food burger joint In-N-Out after leaving a charity event where she’d had only one margarita.
The socialite has been slammed by safety groups, who insist she is setting a bad example for young people by drinking and driving.
Mintz adds, "Paris regrets getting behind the wheel with even one drink. She had not eaten all day.
"She was a little weak. She left the event intending to go to In-N-Out burger. She is a big fan of fast food."

LEE: ‘EVANESCENCE MUSIC SAVES LIVES’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:01 pm

Goth-rocker AMY LEE accepts her lyrics can be dark and depressing at times but she has learned they actually help save lives too.
The Christian EVANESCENCE singer hopes her songs about loneliness and desperation help troubled fans realise they’re not the only ones going through difficult times - she’s been there too.
But now Lee has a more upbeat view of life, she’s thrilled to hear suicidal fans have chosen life over death after listening to her songs.
She explains, "I’m all about making people feel like they’re not alone. One fan told me they were seriously contemplating suicide, but that night they were playing our album, something pulled them back from the edge.
"I know how it feels to be completely alone and helpless, and the last thing you want to hear in that situation is, ‘It’s going to be OK.’ "The only thing that seems to really help is that someone else who has felt that low expressing those feelings to you."

JOEL WRITES SONG ABOUT CHEATING STEPFATHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:01 pm

ALEXA RAY JOEL was so furious with the way her stepfather PETER COOK treated her mother, supermodel CHRISTIE BRINKLEY, she decided to write a song to vent her feelings.
Cook was caught cheating with his 19-year-old assistant this summer (06) and Brinkley subsequently kicked him out of the house.
Joel, whose father is BILLY JOEL, shares a very close bond with her mother and was inspired to write the song NOW IT’S GONE based on the scandalous affair.
Alexa, 20, is starting her own music career and has released an EP with six of her songs on it.
She says, "The song is about my anger towards Peter regarding the situation.
The lyrics came pouring out.
"It was the best release, because for a while I had such pent-up anger and I was just so frustrated and confused. I just wanted to let go of it and release it and that song just really did that for me.
"(Brinkley) is such a great mother and I think she takes such pride in her children. I just hope that I can keep making her proud. There’s no better feeling than making your parents proud."

SONGWRITING PARTNER INSPIRES ELTON TO PEN TUNE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 10:01 pm

SIR ELTON JOHN decided to write a heartfelt song about his long-term relationship with songwriting partner BERNIE TAUPIN, after having endured 40 tumultuous years together as a team.
The ROCKET MAN star wrote THE BRIDGE about his pal and is releasing it as the first single from his new album THE CAPTAIN AND THE KID on 19 September (06).
He explains, "In the context that I sing it, it’s about having crossed that bridge and survived and having the two of us still being together - Bernie Taupin and myself.
"We’ve been writing now for nearly 40 years together to chase the ultimate song and not to give up, but it also is applicable to anybody in any walk of life.
"It’s like don’t give up. There’s so many people that give up and jump off the bridge. You just cannot be successful all the time.
"I think some of the stuff we did in the ’80s and ’90s was uneven because there was all the pressure to have a hit record.
"If you write songs, you’re going to write unevenly anyway, you’re not going to write great songs all the time.
"But I feel with the last three albums we’ve written, we’ve written three really great albums of work that we could go onstage and play now without playing any of our old songs, our old hits and really entertain people really well with them."

DE PALMA SLAMS ‘SIMPLE’ TV

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:33 pm

Hollywood director BRIAN DE PALMA has lashed out at movies and TV shows that simplify complex crimes to attract a mainstream audience.
The movie-maker’s latest film, THE BLACK DAHLIA, follows two detectives investigating the real life murder of a 1940s actress.
But he’s fed up of being told the plot is ‘too complicated’ by cinema-goers who are accustomed to dumbed down television programmes.
De Palma says, "If you want to see CSI, or LAW AND ORDER, they’re on every night. It all fits in a neat bag, but to me procedural dramas are extremely boring."
