LETO’S ROCKERS WIN THE CHANCE TO OPEN FASHION ROCKS
US rockers 30 SECONDS TO MARS have won the chance to perform on top of the Radio City Music Hall marquee at tomorrow’s (07SEP06) Fashion Rocks! show after beating their peers in a mobile phone company talent contest.
The group, fronted by actor JARED LETO, won the Cingular Sound Off Contest, voted for by the wireless company’s users.
30 Seconds To Mars were among the five hip acts up for contention and edged out the likes of BLINK-182 star TOM DeLONGE’s new group ANGELS & AIRWAVES and IMA ROBOT in the voting.
It marks a great end to the summer for the band, which picked up an MTV2 Award for THE KILL at last week’s (31AUG06) MTV Video Music Awards. The group has also announced tentative details for a full autumn North American tour.
SIR ELTON JOHN will curate and perform at this year’s Fashion Rocks! concert, which will also feature acts like CHRISTINA AGUILERA, RIHANNA, KANYE WEST and BEYONCE KNOWLES.
