JOSHUA JACKSON will never take his success on hit teen soap DAWSON’S CREEK for granted because it helped him put his sister through college.
The actor, who played PACEY WITTER in the popular series, admits he’s still recognised around the world for his part in the show, and he’ll always cherish the opportunities the role gave him.
He explains, "I was p**s broke when I started that show and then I got to put my sister through college, paid my mortgage; I’m 28 years old and I own a house. That’s a beautiful thing and I can travel the world; those are big things.
"One time I was in the Tuscany countryside (Italy) and I had 80-year-old grandmothers coming with their grandchildren to this little town and saying, ‘We watch the show every week.’ I was in the middle of Marrakech (Morocco) in my underwear in a steam bath and a guy said to me, ‘Aren’t you that guy from that show?’"

RICHARD GERE is paying tribute to spiritual leader the DALAI LAMA on a new DVD, considered by many to be the ultimate guide to Buddhism.
THE PRETTY WOMAN star, a longtime Buddhist, has added commentary to ON LIFE & ENLIGHTENMENT: PRINCIPLES OF BUDDHISM WITH HIS HOLINESS, THE DALAI LAMA.
The three-disc set covers all major aspects of Tibetan culture, philosophy and Buddhism, and also features music from Indian musician RAHUL SHARMA. It marks the Dalai Lama’s first authorised DVD series.
The DVD is already a hit with other international spiritual heavyweights, like Hollywood guru DEEPAK CHOPRA, who says, "This film series inspires reflection, beauty and prayer… It is rich with colour, meaning and truth."

DAWSON’S CREEK star JOSHUA JACKSON was so starstruck by castmates on the set of new movie BOBBY, he’s had the film’s poster framed as a permanent reminder.
Jackson is still pinching himself about his role in the EMILIO ESTEVEZ film about the 1968 assassination of US Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY, alongside the likes of DEMI MOORE, HELEN HUNT, SHARON STONE, WILLIAM H MACY and SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS.
And he made sure he picked up souvenirs from his shoot - as a reminder of the time he spent in the company of some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
He explains, "The cast on that film is kind of ludicrous. I think it’s the only poster I ever sent home to my mother to be framed.
"She always gets these movie things and puts them up in the house, which is terribly embarrassing for me but I am so happy to have the poster go ‘Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Joshua Jackson.
"That’s a pretty good list to be on… It was heartwarming to be there."

Former FRASIER star BEBE NEUWIRTH is set to return to Broadway, New York to make CHICAGO history.
The Tony Award-winning actress will played ingenue ROXIE HART onstage from 31 December (06) to 25 March (07), making it the first time an actress has played both starring roles in the musical.
Neuwirth played villainous VELMA KELLY in the original company of the revival.
The actress has previously played both Roxie and Velma in the London staging of the show.
Meanwhile, Neuwirth will also take the stage in the musical on 14 November when the show celebrates its 10th anniversary on Broadway with a gala performance at the Ambassador Theatre, featuring members of the original cast and other Chicago alumni such as BROOKE SHIELDS, MARILU HENNER, MELANIE GRIFFITH and former DUKES OF HAZZARD star TOM WOPAT.

TORI SPELLING’s ex-husband is set to go public with his feelings about the actress and the break-up of his marriage on a new US relationship self-help TV show.
Actor CHARLIE SHANIAN, who was wed to Spelling for just a year after the couple wed in a lavish ceremony at TV mogul AARON SPELLING’s estate, will speak out for the first time as a guest on DR KEITH ABLOW’s eponymous new show.
Ablow, a noted psychiatrist, author and television personality convinced Shanian that his story of heartache and broken romance would help others suffering through separation and divorce.
Ablow’s exclusive interview with Shanian will air on 14 September (06).

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star JOELY FISHER gave birth to her second daughter at home without drugs and in front of a large audience, including her five-year-old daughter.
Fisher, the daughter of CONNIE STEVENS and EDDIE FISHER, welcomed daughter TRUE HARLOW FISHER-DUDDY on 2 February (06) at her Los Angeles home.
The star appeared on US talk show THE VIEW Wednesday (06SEP06), where she discussed her decision to not have an epidural during her delivery with the shocked co-hosts.
When stunned moderator ROSIE O’DONNELL asked her why, Fisher replied, "(It was) crazy! The second time I said I was going to have my child at home - don’t ask me why.
"I had a doctor, I had a midwife, I had a doula, I had my mother, my daughter SKYLAR, I had my sister and three of my very good friends and my sister says, ‘and (US news show) ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT.’ But not." Fisher defended her decision to have her young daughter present during the birth saying, "I felt like it would be an incredible bond for her sister because she got to be a part of the experience.
"Mom (Connie Stevens) was a little freaked out, because she thought she would be traumatised by it, but I don’t think she was."

THE MASK co-stars JIM CARREY and CAMERON DIAZ are reuniting for the romantic comedy A LITTLE GAME.
This will be the first time the two have worked together since the 1994 film in which Carrey played a bank clerk who is transformed into a super-hero when he dons a mysterious mask.
The pair will play an engaged Manhattan couple who devise an experiment to see how their friends really feel about their relationship.
They soon discover that their pals believe they are a poor match.
The film is adapted from a French play and will begin shooting next month in New York City.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON was mortified after she mistakenly broke into her neighbour’s apartment after coming home drunk and going to the wrong door.
The LOST IN TRANSLATION star came home after a big night on the town and charged into an apartment thinking that it was her own.
She explains, "I was coming home, it was very late, mind you, it was like four in the morning. Maybe I’d had like one too many champagne cocktails, or whatever…
"But I got home, of course I wasn’t driving, and I opened my door and it wasn’t my kitchen! "It was somebody else’s kitchen and I left and I realised my key opens up somebody else’s door in my building. It like slides right in and opens it up! "I slammed the door shut as quickly as I could and I ran to the stairs because I didn’t want them to think, ‘Who the hell was that?’ "It was a disaster! Then I thought maybe I should go back and see if they had a can of Coke or something…
"I just got back from Venice (from the Venice Film Festival), so I don’t have any groceries!"

KATIE HOLMES has been devastated by the rumours and gossip surrounding the birth of her baby SURI and her relationship with TOM CRUISE.
The first photo of five-month-old Suri posing with her parents appears on the cover of the October (06) issue of Vanity Fair magazine in the US.
The 27-year-old tells the magazine that gossip about her family, "eats away at me because it’s just not okay… Some of the crap that’s out there - the stuff that’s said about my parents and my siblings (implying that they didn’t approve of her relationship with Cruise) - it’s really frustrating the amount of s**t that’s out there. "And the stuff they say about Suri? You shouldn’t say that about us, and you can’t say that about my child." Holmes says she feels compelled to read tabloid stories because, "This is my future. This is my family, and I care so much about them.
"To see how someone as caring and good as Tom is - to see how things just get so twisted and turned around. I mean, where does it come from?" The former DAWSON’S CREEK star was also humiliated by the media coverage she received when she was expecting adding, "(I) was overjoyed being pregnant, and then had to withstand ridicule about my pregnancy when it was the most normal, non-controversial thing imaginable."

US rockers 30 SECONDS TO MARS have won the chance to perform on top of the Radio City Music Hall marquee at tomorrow’s (07SEP06) Fashion Rocks! show after beating their peers in a mobile phone company talent contest.
The group, fronted by actor JARED LETO, won the Cingular Sound Off Contest, voted for by the wireless company’s users.
30 Seconds To Mars were among the five hip acts up for contention and edged out the likes of BLINK-182 star TOM DeLONGE’s new group ANGELS & AIRWAVES and IMA ROBOT in the voting.
It marks a great end to the summer for the band, which picked up an MTV2 Award for THE KILL at last week’s (31AUG06) MTV Video Music Awards. The group has also announced tentative details for a full autumn North American tour.
SIR ELTON JOHN will curate and perform at this year’s Fashion Rocks! concert, which will also feature acts like CHRISTINA AGUILERA, RIHANNA, KANYE WEST and BEYONCE KNOWLES.

TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS have extended dates on what is being touted as the group’s last tour.
Petty announced earlier this year (06) that he was considering turning his back on touring after completing dates on his 30th anniversary Highway Companion tour, but he’s keen to add a few more miles to the highway first.
North American dates will now continue into October (06) with acts like BECK and the BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA added as support acts.
The group will also headline the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on 28 October (06).
PEARL JAM, THE STOKES, the BLACK CROWES and JOHN MAYER are among the other acts who have opened for Petty and The Heartbreakers this tour, while FLEETWOOD MAC star STEVIE NICKS has been inducted as "an honorary Heartbreaker" for her guest appearances on the road.
Meanwhile, the group’s record-breaking return home to Gainesville, Florida on 21 September (06) - the first time they’ve played there in 13 years - will be filmed for a new DVD.

Beloved crooner DEAN MARTIN’s celebrated CHRISTMAS WITH DINO album is to be re-released in time for the holidays with a new MARTINA McBRIDE duet.
The country queen re-recorded festive favourite BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE with the late Martin’s vocals at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, where Martin cut his original version of the song in 1959.
McBride admits she jumped at the chance to record a duet with one of her heroes - even though he wasn’t in the studio with her.
She says, "There’s something about hearing a Dean Martin holiday song. You think, ‘OK, it’s time to start the season, it’s Christmas time.’ That’s definitely how I feel.
"It’s an honour to be able to be a part of this. Dean had such a great voice, and to be able to sing with him all these years later is a thrill." The duet has been recorded by many artists, and was a hit in 1999 for TOM JONES and CERYS MATTHEWS.

BOB DYLAN has hit the top of the US album charts for the first time in 30 years.
The folk-rock icon’s new album, MODERN TIMES, has given Dylan his best sales week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.
The acclaimed new release sold 192,000 copies in its first week to easily take the top spot from rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ all-girl group DANITY KANE.
Modern Times is Dylan’s third consecutive top 10 album, but his first chart-topper since 1976’s DESIRE.
Other debuts in the new top 10 are rapper YOUNG DRO’s BEST THANG SMOKIN’ at number three, JESSICA SIMPSON’s A PUBLIC AFFAIR at number five, 4:21… THE DAY AFTER by METHOD MAN at eight and the ROOTS’ GAME THEORY at number nine.

Rap mogul JAY-Z has reportedly stunned girlfriend BEYONCE KNOWLES with a vintage 1959 Rolls-Royce convertible gift.
The Def Jam Records president handed Knowles the keys to her new ride as a 25th birthday present yesterday (05SEP06), according to the New York Post newspaper.
The publication reports Jay-Z paid a cool $1 million (£555,500) for the car.

Country star TOBY KEITH was thrilled when he got acting advice from veteran star BURT REYNOLDS while he was filming his first movie BROKEN BRIDGES.
Keith plays a washed-up country music singer who returns to his hometown where he reunites with his childhood sweetheart and meets his 16-year-old daughter for the first time.
He says the SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT star told him, "The thing that makes a leading man great is being able to be charming and dangerous.
"JOHN WAYNE was both. Very few people are both. I wasn’t both, I was charming. TOMMY CRUISE doesn’t frighten me with a samurai sword (in THE LAST SAMURAI), but you freak me out with a fork." Keith adds, "It was while we were eating, too. But he was great, man!"

NO DOUBT singer GWEN STEFANI is launching a line of dolls that will be dressed in the styles worn by her and her Harajuku girl dancers on her most recent tour.
There are eight dolls in the limited-edition in collection named after her debut solo album, "Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Fashion Dolls".
Stefani, who is also a fashion designer, says, "The Harajuku Girls and I wore such wicked costumes we had to share them with the world again." Each 10-inch (25 centimetre) doll resembles the rocker or one of her dancers and comes with posters, pocket mirrors or trading cards.
The dolls retail for $24.95 (£13.86) and are sold at US stores such at discount chain Target.

LATEST: NICK LACHEY and JESSICA SIMPSON have finally divided up the assets from their marriage after the pop hunk agreed to less than his share in order to avoid an ugly court battle.
The couple amassed an estimated $36 million (£20 million) fortune during their three-year marriage, due in large part to the success of MTV reality show NEWLYWEDS: NICK AND JESSICA and endorsement deals.
Under California law, the assets are to be divided equally, which would award each of them $18 million (£10 million).
Simpson had initially offered Lachey $1.5 million (£833,000) to walk away from the marriage, reportedly at her father JOE’s request.
Lachey rejected the offer and according to news website TMZ.com, he has now agreed to a new settlement amount, which has not been disclosed.
Sources say Lachey will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than half of what he and Jessica earned during the course of their marriage.
Two sources close to Lachey say that he agreed to end the dispute because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle.
