RHYS MEYERS’ TV SNOBBERY
Irish actor JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS is baffled by SIR IAN McKELLEN’s decision to appear in British soap opera CORONATION STREET, because he’s convinced taking a guest role in a TV series would be "damaging" to his glittering career.
The MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE star believes a role on the small screen is not a "proper job", and would never take up such an opportunity.
He says, "I’ll watch FOOTBALLER’S WIVES though I’d never consider a role on it as it would be very career-damaging.
"People would think, ‘Why the f**k are you doing that? Can’t you get a proper job?’"

That’s prett big talk coming from a man who less than a year ago was kissing his TV Golden Globe and getting nominated for an Emmy.
The thing he does’t realize is that when you’re a big enough star, when you do TV it’s a widely publicized event. He’s five minutes out of TV so for him it WOULD seem like back stepping. Sir Ian can do whatever the hell he likes. His name is legend.
This of course does not impede my desire to have his weird little spacey eyed children but just wanted to point that out JRM.
