Geri Halliwell has complained to police that a nanny physically abused her three-month-old baby.
The alleged incident occurred when the former ‘Spice Girls’ singer left baby Bluebell in the care of a temporary member of staff when she went for a walk with two friends during a stay at the Liphook Golf Club, in Hampshire, on August 18.
When the 34-year-old star returned her baby was shrieking and she found bruising on her arms.
Geri reportedly shouted at the carer: "What’s happened? What have you done to my baby?" However, the nanny - hired while Geri searched for a permanent one - remained silent and Geri decided to notify police of the incident.
An insider said: "Geri was absolutely hysterical. Bluebell is such a happy little child and it broke Geri up to see her in such a state.
"It was the silence from the nanny that so alarmed Geri. If the nanny had explained there had been an accident, she maybe could have understood." A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the complaint.
They said: "We have received an allegation of abuse against a three-month-old baby.
"Officers from our Child Abuse Investigations Unit are investigation and inquiries are continuing. There have been no arrests.
"We emphasise that the allegations of abuse are of a physical and not sexual nature." Geri’s personal assistant Antony Read issued a statement on Saturday (02.09.07) saying: "Bluebell is now happy and well, and there are no further concerns for her welfare."
