Colombian singing sensation SHAKIRA is set to shake her hips in the Bollywood film OM SHANTI OM after being inspired by her Indian-themed performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last Thursday (31AUG06).
Shakira and her dancers performed a hip-shaking, Bollywood-inspired rendition of HIPS DON’T LIE at the ceremony last week.
The singer was so impressed while working with top Bollywood choreographer FARAH KAHN during rehearsals for the show she asked if she could dance in her new movie. The Indian choreographer-filmmaker will begin shooting later this year (06), telling the Times of India, “Right now, it is just that we have agreed to work with each other.” Bollywood’s Hindi movies are known for their elaborate song-and-dance numbers.
Khan said Shakira would be visiting India for a concert in March (07) and that the movie’s dance sequences could be shot at that time.
Khan adds, “She is definitely clued in to Bollywood dance and wants me to incorporate it in her next music video which she wants he to direct for her.”

Former DESTINY’S CHILD star BEYONCE KNOWLES got a special pre-birthday treat on Thursday (31AUG06), when her mother TINA cooked her favourite meal for 600 of her friends.
The CRAZY IN LOVE singer is celebrating her 25th birthday today (04SEP06), but got a special surprise after MTV’s Video Music Awards when her mum teamed up with her boyfriend JAY-Z to pull off the surprise feast.
Sources tell New York Post’s Page Six column, Tina spent much of the afternoon in the kitchen of Jay-Z’s club 40/40 “cooking her secret family recipe of seafood gumbo”.
The gumbo was later dished out to 600 revellers at the club.
Beyonce releases her second solo album today, B’DAY, to coincide with the celebration of her 25th birthday.

Feel-good American football film INVINCIBLE remained invincible at the US box office and claimed the top spot for the second week running taking in $15.2 million (£8.4 million) over the US Labor Day long weekend (02-04SEP06).
JASON STATHAM’s film CRANK, about a hitman out for revenge while racing to find an antidote after he is poisoned, opened in second place, taking in $13 million (£7 million).
A remake of the 1973 thriller WICKER MAN, starring NICOLAS CAGE, debuted in third place with $11.7 million (£6.5 million).
Independent road-trip comedy LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE continued to perform strongly with $9.4 million (£5.2 million) to land in fourth place.
THE ILLUSIONIST, starring EDWARD NORTON, PAUL GIAMATTI and JESSICA BIEL rounded out the top five with $8 million (£4.4 million).
The weekend’s other new wide release, the basketball story CROSSOVER, opened outside the top 10 with $4.5 million (£2.5 million).

DIANE LANE has no regrets about chopping off her hair on live television and insists she loves her sleek new look.
The UNFAITHFUL star cut her hair earlier this summer (06) live on US morning show TODAY to make a wig for cancer charity Beautiful Lengths.
She explains, "I like it short, I kept it short." Lane was especially relieved when husband JOSH BROLIN approved of her new hairdo adding jokingly, "He loved it, which is convenient, because that’s the priority.
"It is all about the hair as we know!" THE PERFECT STORM star insists she has no remorse about deciding to lop off her locks saying, "You know, I thought I would.
"Summer was so hot and I had a nice breeze on my neck for a change. I use a lot less product. That’s one way to look at it!"

Veteran newswoman BARBARA WALTERS has urged new co-host ROSIE O’DONNELL to stop blogging about US talk show THE VIEW.
O’Donnell is joining the show on Tuesday (05SEP06) and regularly writes about what is happening in her life on her website.
The LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN star complained about a promotional skit from the new season of the show writing in an all lowercase style saying, "I saw the new view promos.
"Found myself/in the position/i loathe the most/powerless." Walters discussed her feelings about O’Donnell’s web posts with Newsweek magazine saying, "I didn’t like the blog. I’m counting on Rosie’s intelligence and sensitivity and humour.
"This is, after all, an entertainment show. It is based on people who like each other and are having a good time, not on people who are arguing and unhappy." Soon after Walters spoke to the magazine, she received flowers and a card from her new co-host reading, "Barbara, I only want the promos and the show to be great. And I love you. Love, Ro."

Former PARTY OF FIVE star JEREMY LONDON married MELISSA CUNNINGHAM on Saturday (02SEP06) in California.
The couple both appeared on US family TV show 7TH HEAVEN where London played young minister CHANDLER HAMPTON from 2002-2004, while Cunningham appeared in a 2003 episode.
The evening ceremony took place at the Hidden Chateau and Garden in West Hills, California.
The bride walked down the aisle in a dress she designed herself, while the groom wore a Hugo Boss tuxedo.
Among the 150 guests were Cunningham’s friend CARMEN ELECTRA, London’s identical twin brother, DAZED AND CONFUSED star JASON LONDON, and actors KEVIN CONNOLLY, MATT LINDQUIST and JEREMY SISTO.
London, who played working-class GRIFFIN HOLDON on Party of Five and Cunningham met in 2000 when she auditioned for a film he was producing, the TOMMY CHONG comedy SECRET AGENT 420.
He proposed on 23 December 2005 with a three-carat diamond ring.

Tennis champion ANDRE AGASSI said goodbye to tennis at the US Open on Sunday (03SEP06), after his 21st consecutive tournament resulted in a loss to German BENJAMIN BECKER.
Agassi had said he would retire after the tournament and collapsed into his courtside chair, tearfully looking up through his fingers to see 20,000 people standing and cheering for him in a tribute that lasted a solid four minutes.
Agassi’s wife, STEFFI GRAF, herself a tennis champion, and their two children, JADEN, four, and JAZ, two, were also looking on at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. Despite pain from sciatica cause by a degenerative back condition, Agassi walked to centre court to blow and wave to his fans.
The 36-year-old told the crowd, "The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard doesn’t say is what I have found. Over the last 21 years, I have found loyalty.
"You have pulled for me on the court and also in life. I have found my inspiration. You have willed me to succeed, sometimes even in my lowest moments, and I’ve found generosity.
"You have given me your shoulders to stand on to reach my dreams, dreams I could never have reached without you."

JESSICA SIMPSON struggled with crippling bouts of loneliness after her divorce from ex-husband NICK LACHEY and admits she missed falling asleep in his arms.
The IRRESISTIBLE star has reportedly started dating singer JOHN MAYER, her first serious relationship since separating from Lachey last November (05).
She tells Glamour magazine, "There are moments when I would love to fall asleep with my head on somebody’s shoulder just because I was used to that for so long. I miss that." Unlike her ex-husband, Simpson refuses to talk about the couple’s divorce, calling it a "sacred" subject that she discusses only with her friends, family and God.
When asked about her reaction to Lachey’s candid interview with Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year (06), Simpson said, "People kept that away from me."

Members of a radical Russian Orthodox group staged a protest on Monday (04SEP06) in Moscow, spearing a photo of pop star MADONNA and demanding a ban on her concert in which she stages a mock-crucifixion.
The Orthodox church has urged followers to stay away from the show, in which Madonna sings from a crucifix while wearing a crown of thorns, labelling it as "blasphemy".
Tickets to the HUNG UP singer’s 12 September (06) show, part of her Confessions world tour, had been sold nearly two months in advance, despite protests from Christian churches.
LEONID SIMANOVICH-NIKSHICH, head of a group calling itself the Union of Orthodox Religious Banner Bearers, told approximately 100 supporters, "We will never allow her to desecrate our greatest icons.
"We demand to drive Madonna out of Russian territory. They say Madonna is very rich, but what is all that wealth if a person had lost their soul?" Simanovich-Nikshich and a couple of supporters then speared a portrait of the pop star with a wooden spike, ripped it up and tossed the pieces on the ground and stamped on them.
The Vatican also accused Madonna of blasphemy when she staged the mock crucifixion in Rome, Italy last month (AUG06).

LATEST: The nasty divorce battle between LIZA MINNELLI and DAVID GEST has become even worse, with Minnelli accusing her estranged husband of trying to poison her and Gest charging that she hid the fact that she had a sexually transmitted disease.
According to papers filed in a Manhattan, New York Supreme Court, Minnelli claims she was "living in fear" while she and the music producer were married, because she was scared he was "trying to poison her with drugs".
Meanwhile, Gest claims the Oscar-winner hid her sexually transmitted disease, herpes simplex, from him until well after they were married.
A source close to Gest tells the New York Post, "David was devastated when he found (this) out a year after they had been together and six months after they were married." In the court filing, Gest’s lawyers demands to know when and how Minnelli got infected and plan to make her medical condition an issue in their long-running divorce case where each is accusing the other of being "cruel and inhuman".
The estranged couple have been locked in a court clash since splitting in July 2003.

Actor JASON STATHAM has creditted Los Angeles with making him live a healthier lifestyle, because his native London brings out his party animal persona too much.
The TRANSPORTER star moved to Hollywood after the success of LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS in the late 1990s, and insists he is much more clean-living away from the British capital’s bars and clubs.
He says, "I’ve been here in LA for years. I live here and in the UK because it makes sense. It’s practical. But England is home.
"There are pros and cons wherever you live. I mean London’s great if you want to burn the candle, but I’ve got a much healthier lifestyle here. You knuckle down and you go to work. Back home I just mess around. It’s counterproductive."

The 31-year-old American actor loves British humour and insists he would camp out overnight to watch Cohen’s Kazakhstani character BORAT SAGDIYEV in a movie.
He says, "I love Ricky Gervais, but I think the greatest thing to come out of England in my 31 years is Sacha Baron Cohen. I think he’s a genius, the funniest person in the world.
"Borat’s my favourite and I’m going to be the first person in line for his new movie. You know those kids that camp out for STAR WARS? I’m going to camp out for Borat."

Hollywood star JULIETTE BINOCHE prepared for her role in new thriller A FEW DAYS IN SEPTEMBER by meeting with real-life secret agents.
The SANTIAGO AMIGORENA-directed movie sees Binoche star as a member of the French secret service, and she made sure she had first-hand espionage experience for the role.
She says, "I was able to understand that you can never really retire as a secret agent, because you will always have secrets.
"I think an actor needs a certain realism and truth to be real on the screen."

Tennis ace ANDY RODDICK has slammed reports he’s dating MARIA SHARAPOVA, insisting they are simply tour buddies.

Hollywood director/actor ZACH BRAFF has been forced to shelve his latest movie, after failing to secure enough cast members to begin filming.
The GARDEN STATE star has adapted a Danish screenplay called OPEN HEARTS, but is struggling to find people to work with.
He tells Moviehole.net, "There is always pressure, but I’m going to do something that isn’t anything like Garden State.
"The next thing I will do will be completely different, Open Hearts, which is a Danish movie that I adapted.
"It’s a really dark drama about a car accident and the way the accident affects all the people involved in it. I was going to do it this summer, but since I couldn’t get my top people I’m waiting until next summer."
