CHAN JOINS PETA TO STOP CHINESE DOG CULLS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:37 pm

Kung fu star JACKIE CHAN has joined forces with People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) in urging Chinese authorities to stop large-scale dog culls to combat rabies.
The SHANGHAI NOON actor has called on the Chinese government to use vaccines to tackle the deadly disease before outbreaks occur, rather than just reacting to emergencies.
Chan has designed a unique greeting card which is currently being auctioned on eBay, with proceeds going to PETA Asia Pacific’s humane rabies control campaign.
The card carries the inscription, "Of course it is our duty as human beings to love and respect each other. But that obligation extends to our animal friends as well. They are just as deserving of our care and kindness." PETA director JASON BAKER says, "With Jackie’s help, we hope to make dog culling a thing of the past. Humane rabies prevention programs not only save dogs lives, they also save human lives." More than 50,000 dogs were slaughtered in just one district of Yunnan province last month (AUG06), following the death of three people from rabies.
