The ‘Copacabana’ singer had the operation just hours after winning an Emmy award on Sunday (27.08.06).
Manilow’s publicist Carol Marshall said: "It is natural to be in a wheelchair two days after surgery.
"He’s doing great. He still has a good six weeks or so of physical therapy, but he’s still on a high from winning an Emmy." The 60-year-old star scooped the award for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music programme for his TV special ‘Barry Manilow: Music and Passion’.
After being presented with the statuette, he told the crowd: "Holy mackerel! I can’t be more surprised." Manilow was so pleased to have won the award he reportedly took the statuette into the operating room with him.
The ‘Mandy’ singer is now resting at his home in Palm Springs.
He is scheduled to perform in Atlantic City, Chicago and make a return to his long-running ‘Music and Passion’ concert series at the Hilton hotel, in Las Vegas, in November.
