BURNEL’S ALTERNATIVE PHILOSOPHY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:49 pm

THE STRANGLERS bassist JEAN-JACQUES BURNEL prefers to hit out at others before they have a chance to do the same to him.
The GOLDEN BROWN rocker has twisted the age-old phrase, ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,’ to protect himself from potential aggressors.
And the philosophy is one which has served Burnel well for many years. In his 1970s heyday, he famously punched THE CLASH bassist PAUL SIMONON in the face, launching a full-scale riot between the two bands, after Simonon inadvertently spat on the floor in Burnel’s direction.
He says, "Do to others what they would do to you… first.
"It’s called the pre-emptive strike. If you’re approached in the street and you know it’s going to kick off, take them out before they get a chance."
