MONTGOMERY REACHES PLEA AGREEMENT OVER DRINK DRIVING ARREST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:27 pm

Country singer JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY had been fined $663.50 (£351) and ordered to undergo an alcohol education program after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors over drink driving charges.
The I LOVE THE WAY YOU LOVE ME hitmaker, 41, was arrested in the early hours of 16 February (06) at a Lexington, Kentucky intersection after spending the night at a local bar.
Officers originally arrested Montgomery on charges of driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
On Tuesday (22AUG06), Montgomery entered an Alford plea in a Lexington court - which meant the singer acknowledged there was enough evidence for his alcohol conviction, but did not admit his guilt.
His lawyer BRENT CALDWELL says, “He decided not to go through with this high-profile trial and go ahead and just resolve it. He wanted to fight the charges, but he also wanted to do what was best for his family.” The drug and weapon charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.
