Daniel Craig wants to spend his James Bond earnings on art.
The 38-year-old actor is reportedly set to make £1.5 million from his first 007 movie ‘Casino Royale’, due to be released in November, and the art-loving star admits he can’t wait to blow the cash on paintings.
He said: "I’d love to get into buying art, though I haven’t started making enough money yet." The actor is set to rake in a further £7 million after agreeing to reprise his role as the suave spy for two more movies.
Craig’s second outing as the secret agent will be released in 2008 and will see the actor bank £3 million. For his third appearance as Bond, Craig will pick up between £4 million and £4.5 million.
However, Craig’s earnings are reportedly a lot less than his predecessor Pierce Brosnan got for the role.
A source said: "Daniel is very much a poor man’s 007. He’s facing an uphill battle to win over Bond fans before ‘Casino Royale’ is even released, and it looks like producers got him slightly on the cheap." Brosnan reportedly lost the famous role after demanding £22 million to appear in ‘Casino Royale’.
Despite his alleged lower pay, a spokesman for Craig insists he is "happy with the arrangements".
