DAVID DUCHOVNY hopes his new movie TRUST THE MAN will display his funny side, because he is sick of being seen as his serious THE X-FILES character FOX MULDER.
The 46-year-old actor admits fans are often amazed by his sparkling wit, and he insists he isn’t above a “good fart joke”.
He says, “Until I die, I know people will keep coming up and saying, ‘I didn’t know you were so funny.’ “That’s why I don’t like to be thought of just as Mulder, because the overall impression you get of him is not humorous, even though we did some funny stuff on the series.
“I consider myself to be an intelligent guy but I love a good fart joke. I love a good ass joke. It’s really just human.”

The British BATMAN RETURNS star admits doing copious background work beats having to look within for inspiration, even if much of it is “b**locks”.

SAMUEL L JACKSON has topped a poll as Hollywood’s coolest actor for his portrayal of JULES WINNFIELD in cult 1994 movie PULP FICTION.
Jackson beat off competition from screen legend STEVE McQUEEN and BRAD PITT, who took second and third place in the list with their respective roles in 1968 movie BULLITT and 1999 thriller FIGHT CLUB.
A spokeswoman for British DVD rental firm LoveFilm, who conducted the survey, claim it was Jackson’s “ice-cool charm” in the QUENTIN TARANTINO movie which pipped any other suave star to the post.

TRAINSPOTTING actress KELLY MACDONALD is backing UK charity Oxfam’s campaign to help out victims embroiled in the escalating Middle East crisis.
The Scottish star is calling on Brits to start fundraising for the initiative, which aims to provide proper sanitation and clean water to war-torn Israel, Gaza and Lebanon.
She says, “There’s a very real crisis across the Middle East that we must all work together to overcome.
“By supporting Oxfam’s appeal, you’ll be helping countless people across the region to get back on their feet and live a normal, dignified life once more.”

Rock veterans THE ROLLING STONES are settling down in their old age and barely drink, according to now-sober guitarist RONNIE WOOD.
The former FACES rocker, 59, recently spent time in rehabilitation during his ongoing battle against alcoholism, but insists the band’s current A Bigger Bang tour is relatively dry.
He says, “KEITH (RICHARDS) still has a few, but even he has been watching himself recently. Mostly we’re all very well behaved these days.
“CHARLIE (WATTS) doesn’t touch anything now, and MICK (JAGGER) will only have a glass of wine on a night off.
“But it’s easier for them; alcohol is in my genes.”

Former ARCTIC MONKEYS bass player ANDY NICHOLSON is reportedly suffering from depression since leaving the British chart-toppers earlier this year (06).
Founder member Nicholson walked out on the group ahead of their American tour in March (06) citing exhaustion. He has since been replaced by NICK O’MALLEY.
But pals fears he is now sinking into depression, as he has barely left the house.
A friend tells British newspaper The Sun, “Andy has been down ever since he left the group. He’s been at home most days watching telly while the band are on tour.
“He just doesn’t seem interested in anything.”

British royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES was not pregnant when she died in a 1997 car crash, according to the manager of a London mortuary where her post-mortem examination took place.
ROBERT THOMPSON rubbishes speculation Diana was expecting the baby of her lover DODI FAYED, who was also killed in the incident in Paris, France.
In the documentary WHO KILLED DIANA?, to be aired on British TV network Sky One on Monday (21AUG06), Thompson says, “I saw no evidence of pregnancy exposed during the post-mortem procedure, and indeed the pathologist said that she was not pregnant.
“Drawing together what I heard and what I saw on that day in the post-mortem room - the pathologist said to me: ‘Well, she wasn’t pregnant.’ I saw no evidence of pregnancy within her body.
“My conclusion must be that she wasn’t pregnant.” Fayed’s father, business tycoon MOHAMED AL FAYED, still suspects his son and Diana were killed on orders of the British royal family because she was pregnant. Driver HENRI PAUL also died in the crash.

The SMILE singer had been invited to spin some discs at the trendy Home nightclub.
But after playing R&B tracks, despite it being an indie rock night, and failing to work out how to mix songs, she ended up hiding behind the decks while her audience jeered.
She then said, “I’m sorry, I’m not very good at this.” A source says, “It was obvious she was drunk and didn’t have a clue what she was doing. It was embarrassing.
“I’m not sure how good Lily usually is but she made a right fool of herself.
When she shamelessly tried to mix Smile, it just didn’t work at all.”

The BABYSHAMBLES star, 27, made the sensational admission before appearing in a London court on drugs charges yesterday (18AUG06).
Doherty, who pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing drugs including crack cocaine and heroin, says, “I’ve had a crack pipe with an off-duty police officer before and I’ve had a spliff with a fireman.
“But I wouldn’t grass on anyone.”

Singer BOY GEORGE has been praised for the positive spirit with which he carried out his five days of community service this week (beg14AUG06).
The star - real name GEORGE O’DOWD - was sentenced to a working week sweeping the streets of New York City after being convicted of falsely reporting a burglary at his Manhattan apartment last year (05).
His manager JEREMY PEARCE says, “George has responded extremely well. He did it very conscientiously.
