2014-02-19 18:10:18 - SMi’s Bench & Bedside: Insights from case studies - how biomarker R&D and biosample collection can successfully work together masterclass - hosted by AdeptBio will take place on the 7th April in London

Biomarkers are sought after in almost all disease indications and covered in recent clinical research as well as in pharmaceutical and diagnostic R&D projects. There are a variety of views today about what changes to existing frameworks and regulatory systems are necessary to facilitate the translation of this wave of new biomedical and health innovations from bench to bedside. For a successful industrial R&D biomarker/CDx project the project group has to understand how human biosamples and associated data can be collected prospectively in a clinical setting and how they are typically stored in retrospective biobanks.

Clinicians waiting for better/new diagnostic markers or for better/new biomarkers/CDx to stratify patients or to guide their therapies also have to understand how industry develops new

methods. Both have to work jointly for a successful implementation of new methods in clinical reality. This masterclass hosted by AdeptBio UG tries to bring together both perspectives discussing case studies thereby helping you to implement your biomarker/CDx work.

Delegates who attend will hear about:
• Ethics and regulations in biobanking and biosample procurement
• Retrospective, prospective, longitudinal and other complex study designs and ways to access biosamples to
match these designs
• The importance of data associated to samples
• Sample and data logistics
• Quality management in biosample procurement and biobanking
