www.endeca.com - Endeca Technologies, Inc., a search and information access software company, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders quadrant of the 2008 Information Access Technology Magic Quadrant report(1).
The report "assesses vendors with capabilities that go beyond enterprise search to encompass a range of technologies. Their capabilities include search; federated search content
classification, categorization and clustering; fact and entity extraction; taxonomy creation and management; information presentation (for example, visualization) to support analysis and understanding; and desktop search to address user-controlled repositories in order to locate and "invoke" documents, data, e-mail and intelligence."
According to Gartner, vendors listed in the Leaders quadrant "demonstrate significant architectural flexibility. They also have a strong, innovative and broad means of determining relevancy of results to users and providing developers with the flexibility and appropriate tools to tune these relevancy settings. They have the finances to weather hard times and sufficient resources to invest in both organic and inorganic technology and business growth. They also have enough depth and strength to serve as platform vendors whose software can be used to solve most information access problems."
"Enterprises are rapidly shifting from the notion of a single search box on top of vast quantities of data and content towards a common information access infrastructure that enables the rapid development of specialized information access applications. This sea change is based on the increasing demand for new classes of information access applications that can inform daily decision making of thousands if not millions of users," said Steve Papa, chief executive officer of Endeca. "We believe our position in the Leaders quadrant speaks to our continued focus on innovation, our deep investments in new information access application development tools, and the broad applicability of Endeca's technology."
