MIAMI, Fla. -- Elle Décor magazine returns to Art Basel in Miami this December with its acclaimed Elle Décor Modern Life Concept House. The magazine has paired top designers with prominent lifestyle brands to transform an expansive tropical-modern, waterfront estate on Miami Beach’s exclusive Sunset Island II. The showhouse is open to the public while also serving as a venue for a series of private events. Access to the home is $35 per person, with proceeds benefiting Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Designer Sam Robin collaborated with Roche Bobois, the international home furnishings company, in designing a graphic black-and-white living room for this year’s showhouse. With the client’s profile and the architecture of
the room, Roche Bobois seemed to be a perfect fit in both style and sophistication. The sculptural lines of the flap bookcases create a strong focal point in the room and become an artistic installation in itself – a perfect feature to showcase during Art Basel.
Robin came by her design prowess naturally. Relocating from Chicago to Miami, she has designed aircraft, residential and commercial interiors of many high-profile personalities.
The Roche Bobois Paris brand was born in 1960, resulting from a merger of two French family businesses. Launching two new collections a year, the company has become a worldwide symbol of fine European-made furniture, design and distribution, with 250 retail showrooms in 45 countries throughout the world. Visit roche-bobois.com for more information.
Official hours for the public to visit the showhouse are from Wednesday, December 4, through Sunday, December 8, as well as on Saturday, December 14, and Sunday, December 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
