Edgemere residents recently played a high-stakes game of bingo, knowing that the goal of the evening was to raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event. Residents gathered for beer, wine, snacks and a competitive game of bingo. All participants were asked to bring a donation for the cause to help provide funding for care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. The total raised for the evening was $1,035. The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event is scheduled for October 5 at the American Airlines Center.
“Our residents really enjoy a good game of bingo, but this one was different as we were playing bingo for a cause,” said Lorraine Kendrick-Rose, lifestyles director at Edgemere. “We had such
a fun evening, and the best part is we were able to raise money for a cause that is near and dear to all of our hearts. We are always looking for new ways to raise money before the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This might have to be a new annual tradition.”
After giving a donation, participants were eligible to win prizes donated by vendors such as Walgreens and El Fenix. It was a special night for all who participated.
