JellyJames Publishing House has introduced DynamoMaths On-line, a programme for children who are struggling with maths or are dyscalculic.
The Three Stage on-line programme stimulates the working memory and develops number sense and numeracy proficiency through different learning styles.
The programme is already helping children in the United Kingdom who are dyscalculic. It is also helping children with other learning differences such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Down Syndrome, Autistic etc. An inclusive programme mapped to the UK Primary Framework and starts at P scale 6 up to Level 2.
It is estimated that 3-6% of children and adults are impacted by dyscalculia (Cambridge Brain Science Unit, 2009). For many, a wait and see approach may be too late. Dyscalculic symptoms can be
observed as specific mathematical and also life-skill difficulties brought on by the lack of a natural or intuitive Number Sense and Number Relationship.
Dynamomaths On-line is a ground breaking Three Stage On-line Programme that uses visual models and images alongside uses audio and visual stimuli to address the needs of children who are struggling with early maths. The programme extensively supports the research on how the brain learns maths and the working memory.
This approach gives numbers meaning, magnitude and a relationship so that children are not seeing numbers as purely as symbols. Children encounter high levels of anxiety and withdrawal symptoms when basic number sense is non existent. Daniel Ansari's research at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada has revealed that children who are better at connecting numerical symbols and magnitudes are more likely to have higher math scores ( PR-inside.com, 12 November 2009).
Dynamomaths is already helping so many dyscalculics across the UK. In-fact many schools are using the DynamoMaths programme as a mainstream tool as it is so effective.
Programme Director , Esmail who was delivering a talk on “Entering and Understanding the world of a Dyscalculic Child” to teachers and local authority at the British Dyslexia Conference said in a statement . "We hope to open the doors for people in these communities and in years to come, that through this methodology children start learning maths right first time using technology that develops their “homeness” to numbers.
The Programme is available through select resellers, including BDA On-line shop, Microlink (UK), Iansyst and TTS.
