AMSTERDAM (AP) - Henk van Stee has become the seventh manager to lose his job in the Dutch league this season after being fired as head coach of De Graafschap following a disappointing run of results.
De Graafschap, second from last in the league standings, has picked up a paltry four points in its last seven games.
«Poor results have led to this decision,» a club statement said.
Van Stee threatened legal action over De Graafschap's decision to terminate his contract.
Coaches Raymond Atteveld (Roda JC), Willem van Hanegem (FC Utrecht), Hans Westerhof (Vitesse Arnhem), Gertjan Verbeek (Feyenoord), Huub Stevens (PSV Eindhoven) and Andries Jonker (Willem II) have all been dismissed this season.
De Graafschap, which hasn't won a major tournament since its formation in 1954, said former player and current assistant coach Darije Kalezic will take over from Van Stee on an interim basis. De Graafschap visits fellow struggler Roda JC on Sunday.
Before taking his role at De Graafschap last year, Rotterdam-born Van Stee had coaching roles at Sparta Rotterdam, AZ Alkmaar and Excelsior Rotterdam.
