Glenna Irwin loved singing in her church choir. But three very serious lung conditions – COPD-emphysema, pulmonary hypertension and bronchiectasis - had left her so short of breath that singing was impossible.

That wasn’t all; Glenna’s other loves, practicing Tai Chi and walking, also caused her too much distress to continue them.

The worst of it came in April

of 2007, when she had such difficulty breathing that she had to be rushed to the hospital. Glenna spent a week in the hospital, breathing with the aid of a ventilator.

Things looked bleak until more than a year later, when Glenna and her husband Jim attended a seminar conducted by Dr. Zannos Grekos, a Southwest Florida doctor. Grekos is a leader in stem cell therapy. His method uses a patient’s own stem cells to treat the patient’s organ-related illnesses.

Glenna believed that she may have found the answer to her “incurable” lung problems. Dr. Grekos agreed.

“One’s own stem cells can be used to treat serious lung failures as well as other diseases, such as heart failure caused by a number of heart diseases,” Dr. Grekos said. “Lung problems, such as those suffered by Glenna Irwin, respond well to stem cell treatment.”

Dr. Grekos’ treatment is called Regenocyte™ Therapeutic Adult Stem Cell Therapy. Here is how the process works:

- First, the patient visits with Dr. Grekos. A prior history and other data is collected.

- Then, blood is drawn, and is couriered to a laboratory in Israel. The stem cells are separated from the blood. The result is the collection of between 40 and 80 million stem cells.

- The patient is admitted to a hospital in the Dominican Republic where Dr. Grekos is affiliated. The stem cells are delivered there at about the same time as the patient’s admittance.

- In a case such as Glenna Irwin’s, the stem cells are injected into the patient’s pulmonary artery, which delivers them to the lungs.

Glenna noticed a big improvement in her condition two days later, when she was able to walk through the Miami airport without stopping for breath. A week later, she was able to sing in her church choir again.

Just eight weeks later, her pulmonologist confirmed that her lung function was much improved.

Dr. Grekos has treated more than 125 patients with the Regenocyte™ Therapeutic Adult Stem Cell Therapy during the past two years. Patients have shown improvements in a number of different areas.

Dr. Grekos is a U.S. Board Certified Cardiologist, a member of the Science Advisory Board of the U.S. Repair Stem Cell Institute and the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR).

On Nov. 8, 2008, Dr. Grekos presented the groundbreaking results of his clinical treatment experience to the World Congress on Regenerative Biomedical Technologies in Dubai, U.A.E. In 2007, he was invited to brief the U.S. Senate Health Advisory Staff on the current state of stem cell research and therapy.

Dr. Grekos is a Clinical Assistant Professor for Nova Southeastern University; a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Cardiology; a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine; and a Diplomate of the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease.
