Dr S K S Marya, one of the most eminent joint replacement surgeons in Asia has been in the field of medicine and orthopaedic surgery for almost 30 Years. He took
charge of Indian Orthopaedic Association’s (IOA) as President to initiate plans to further the cause of education in India and SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries. His vision is to ensure that young orthopaedic surgeons have easy access to national and global best practices in education and training in the field of orthopaedics.

With over 30 years of surgical experience Dr. Marya specializes in Joint Replacement Surgery for the joints of upper and lower limbs (Primary and Revision) and Trauma Management based on AO Principles. He has to his credit over 12000 knee, hip, shoulder, finger and toe surgeries. He has pioneered various complexes and advanced techniques to treat bone and joint related problems and shared his knowledge with multiple surgeons across India, Asia and Europe. In recognition of his service and expertise, Dr Marya has been conferred a number of awards and recognitions including the ‘Praman Patra’ from the Chief Minister of Punjab, ‘Haryana Vigyan Ratna’ from the Chief Minister of Haryana, ‘Distinguished Service Award’ from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Delhi and ‘Bharat Jyoti Award’ from the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Dr Marya is also the author of 7 text books on Orthopaedics. He has conducted live surgery demonstrations more than 60 times in India and in almost 8 countries abroad like Zimbabwe, Philippines, Malaysia, Poland to name a few. He has also deliver lectures on Orthopaedics in more than 20 countries.

He is on the board of directors of Asia-Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS), education director of SICOT (Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopedique et de Traumatologie) and president-elect of Arthroplasty Society in Asia (ASIA).
